I'm in a wheelchair, so having space-saving and hands-free items is important. This hangs great from my chair. It's small, mostly because it doesn't waste space with a handle. (The strap is more convenient anyways.) It fits great in my hand. I have a 17 lb dog, so I can't really say how strong it is, though it seems very strong. It slides easily.CONS:It's short, only 7 feet. I haven't found this a significant issue for *myself*. My dog has his own view. ;-)It doesn't easily retract completely. It reminds me of a yo-yo - Sometimes you have to pull it out quickly a couple of times to get it to fully retract.The lock button only locks; there's no half-way hold option. And there's a fairly loud click when it locks or unlocks. That's frustrating when I don't want my dog to know.That said, this is the best leash I've ever owned.UPDATE!The leash died after about 6-7 months of very frequent use (abuse). For the price, it was well worth it. I returned its replacement due to a defect, but will certainly buy a replacement for the replacement!I've graduated from my wheelchair to a cane. The leash is still invaluable. It's small enough to hang off my cane when not in use. (No more lost leash!) And it's very easy for me to hold & use even with the cane. Sometimes I lock it retracted & let it hang from my dog. He's little and it hits the ground a bit, but is so light that he doesn't seem to mind.Still my favorite leash!IN RESPONSE TO ANOTHER REVIEW:This leash is only auto-retract unless it's locked. The moment I unlock it, the slack is pulled up fast. Sometimes I'll unlock and immediately relock it to change the locked length to my dog's current location; takes a fraction of a second.It has issues retracting completely within the last few inches. Pull it out quickly and it's fine.An occasional issue at regular leash length may mean it got a little caught up inside. Give it a tug and it should be fine. That's rare. If it happens a few times, it may be defective. I'd suggest exchanging it.

I’m glad I took a chance on this leash. It’s been perfect for my needs. I use it as a travel leash, and have also used it as a leash to attach on a training belt. So far I’ve had no issues! I’ve also used it on multiple camping trips and it’s stood up to the various uses that I’ve run it through!

If you have a small dog or puppy this is great to keep your dog tethered to you without having to worry about tripping over the leash due to the retraction function. Good way to keep tabs on your puppy when they are not old enough to let roam around on their own

I wanted a smaller device

Great size. More neutral colors would get me to order another.

Very cheaply made, you could probably get a better one from the dollar store. Not worth it
