Outstanding gaming performance with excellent efficiency
The Ryzen 9800X3D has been an excellent upgrade and delivers exactly what it’s known for—top-tier gaming performance. Frame times are extremely consistent, CPU bottlenecks are minimal, and it performs exceptionally well in CPU-heavy games. Despite the performance, power efficiency and thermals are very manageable compared to traditional high-end CPUs. With a decent cooler, temperatures stay under control even during long gaming sessions. Stability has been flawless with no crashes or issues. While this CPU is clearly optimized for gaming, it still handles everyday productivity and multitasking smoothly. Pairing it with a solid AM5 motherboard and fast DDR5 memory makes a noticeable difference. If gaming is your main priority, the 9800X3D is one of the best CPUs you can buy right now and is absolutely worth the investment.

Excellent performance, and a strong and reliable processor!
If your priority is gaming performance, this CPU is simply in a league of its own. Frame times are insanely stable, 1% lows are noticeably better, and games that are typically CPU-bound (CS2, Warzone, Tarkov, Starfield, simulation games) run smoother than I’ve ever seen. Paired with a high-end GPU, it's unstoppable. Thermals are also excellent. With a decent air cooler or AIO, temps stay very manageable, and power efficiency is outstanding compared to competing high-end CPUs. No excessive heat, no wild power spikes. I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D from a laptop running an Intel i3-7020U, and the difference is honestly hard to put into words. This isn’t just an upgrade—it’s a completely different universe!

The Greatest Price/Performance CPU of 2025!
Best processor of 2025 for price/performance. The performance is almost unmatched and nearly top of the line with AMD. Plenty of cores and stays on par with Intels many cores. Very easy to install if you have your motherboard CPU installation plastic bracket. Feels durable enough that you could install without the motherboard plastic protector, but would always recommend using motherboard CPU installation protector. Excellent stability as well, this CPU runs at lower temps than my Ryzen 7 7800X3D while pushing more performance and power. This processor will go down in history for the year 2025!

Great cup! Just get it already!!
Works fantastic! Parties with asus 5080 astral and I can push max/ultra settings in 4k on my 100” 4k 144hz Hisense TV. No lag, no stutter, no screen tearing. Paired with the Arctic freezer III and temps stay at 60c. I’ve seen once or twice them climb to 68c under heavy utilization but it’s not too often. Playing dead space (2023) and ghost of Tsushima. It’s on the pricey side but worth it! No noise from it. Stability is phenomenal, no crashes. Installation was straight forward and easy.

Good chip, weird, possibly unrelated issue.
This thing works great, runs 4x games way better than my 12900ks and is cooled easily by an nhd-15 contrary to what some may say. This being said ever since I switched over to this chip I have had an issue with instability and crashes while playing games after I upgraded. I doubt it's the cpus fault, it seems more like a GPU or mobo issue though I thought I might mention in case other customers are having the same issue.

Should you upgrade from 7800X3D to 9800X3D?
I have been tempted to upgrade from my 7800x3d since the release of the 9800x3d but held back. I have looked at reviews and also feedbacks from people who made the upgrade and they all were pretty mixed, a lot of people say it isn't worth it. Well I made the plunge today and bought the 9800x3d to replace my 7800x3d. I am getting this out of the way in terms of gaming: average fps won't be much of a difference from the 7800x3d since I play at high ultrawide 3840x1600 resolution. But, I did run some benchmarks before and after and saw a bit better performance on average and a good lift in the 1%/0.1% lows which improved game play smoothness. The best thing about the 9800x3d is the performance and thermals after undervolting it. This is a must. It is only a few clicks in bios in the PBO settings. Anybody can do it and should do it. Better temps, lower power usage, and more performance for free! Google it. My 7800x3d was also undervolted but it didn't make a big difference like the 9800x3d. This 9800x3d undervolted has improved efficiency and massively improved thermals. High 40 degrees C in gaming and low 60s degree C stress test. My undervolted 7800x3d was in the high 50 - 60s C gaming and high 70s- 80 C stress test. Same 360mm Arctic AIO cooler/setup. Much cooler and just as efficient as my undervolted 7800x3d. Even if it isn't much of an improvement in average FPS at high resolution gaming...the temps and efficiency as well as the improvement in single and multithread scores makes the upgrade worth it. An issue that I had with the 7800x3d and also my previous AM4 CPUs is that the CPU would spike up in temps when I do something like opening a software or watching a youtube video. The CPU fans would spin up which can be annoying, but the 9800x3d solved that. No more spiking temps so my CPU fans stay constant while doing casual things. I highly recommend this if you have a 7800x3d and is on the fence. I had to try it for myself because the mixed advice from people online about whether or not the 9800x3d would be an upgrade from the 7800x3d was driving me nuts. To me it was worth the upgrade and I should have done it sooner...but hey at least I saved $80 off MSRP for waiting too long.

I’ve been using the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for about a month now, and it has exceeded my expectations. I paired it with 32GB of RAM, an RTX 5070 Ti, and a 1000W PSU for my new gaming build, and so far everything has run flawlessly. Gaming Performance: This CPU delivers excellent results in modern titles. I’ve been playing Expedition 33, Wuchang, World of Warcraft, and Gears of War in 4K. While I can’t max out every single setting, the visuals are still impressive, smooth, and very enjoyable. The system stays cool under load, which gives me confidence in its long-term stability. Beyond Gaming: Outside of gaming, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D handles productivity tasks and multitasking with ease. It’s responsive and fast whether I’m running applications, browsing, or doing heavier work. Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a CPU that balances gaming power with strong all-around performance, this is an excellent choice. The overall experience is smooth, stable, and reliable. Highly recommended for anyone building a capable gaming or productivity PC.
