My First Story Orchestra: The Nutcracker: Press the buttons to hear 6 sounds (The Story Orchestra)

Terrific idea !
This is a lovely book for children. The pictures are colorful and enticing, and the short bit of music that plays are memorable stanzas from the ballet. It is a terrific exposure to some classical music and shows. My only complaint is the button to press on each page seems a bit small and can be hard to press or be unnoticeable as it blends into the wonderful pictures, But it gets the job done and I would highly recommend this book and the whole series to anyone wanting their young child to become familiar with some of the classics. The age range for this book is quite variable, in my opinion, so don't hesitate to think a younger child and a slightly older child wouldn't enjoy it. They will. And as an adult, I love it!

The Music Stops Working Very Quickly
The illustrations are very cute. The problem is with the music. I opened the book and turned on the sound as directed. The six musical selections worked fine at first. Then one by one they stopped working as the night wore on (this is over the course of less than one hour.) After an hour, only two of the musical selections were still working. Very disappointing!

Beautiful high-quality book!
The media could not be loaded. We love the larger Story Orchestra books, but my baby wants to read them with the older kids and he tends to tear or bend the pages of the books. I have always thought they should make a board book version, and this is exceptional! The beautiful illustrations are just like the large version, and the buttons are even easier for little hands to push. It has a switch to turn off the sound on the back and I appreciate the screw that secures the button battery in place so little hands can’t access it. It has a very short, simple version of the storyline which is perfect for the attention span of my one-year-old. I am so grateful for Story Orchestra and these beautiful books that help my kids fall in love with wonderful stories, music, and artwork! Currently only this book and Swan Lake have been released in board books, but I hope Story Orchestra will continue to release board book versions of all the classics they have published!

Lovely book BUT one of the six buttons doesn't work :'(
The button on the last page doesn't work :'(The illustrations are sweet, the music quality is great, my kids love it, BUT I can't give the book full stars because the last button doesn't work at all! I'd even over look it if the book were longer but when 1 out of only 6 buttons doesn't function properly that puts quite a damper on the experience.

Good intro to Nutcracker
Music bits are, not surprisingly, very short

an early introduction
This title is part of a series that introduces the very youngest readers/listeners to some of the great ballets. This time, the ballet is that childhood favorite, The Nutcracker. The story is short and simply told, the illustrations are engaging and, in the hard copy, there are excerpts from the music. All of these aspects make this book one to add to a little one’s library. Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

Music too short and pages stop working
The music clips are really too short to get a good sense of the music and several of the pages have stopped working within a month of purchase.

Good Introduction
Fine introduction, at a very basic level, to The Nutcracker. Well illustrated and brief, it is suitable for the young ones. Again, not a lengthy exposition but a good introduction and suitable for the kids.
