These concealed outlets are all the rage for desktops. I have several for a desk I built that are flat Qi chargers with concealed AC outlets and USB ports.This one is slightly different in that the outlets are concealed and a gentle push reveals the spring-loaded power strip that includes 2 AC outlets, a USB-A port and 2 USB-C ports.The quality of this item is good and the pop-up mechanism is smooth. The radius of this item is not too large either, meaning that it won't take up a big space on your desktop compared to some other grommet style outlets.I'd say that the biggest issue with this particular item is it's pretty pricey. There are a wide range of similar items available on Amazon that are a LOT less expensive. And this item doesn't even have Qi charging capability. I've seen other similar items that have more features (like Qi charging). That being said, for the price, I'd expect this to be more feature-packed, or have some other details to justify the price. It doesn't, in my opinion.

I purchased this to install in an old subwoofer cabinet that I had converted into a nightstand. I wanted something low profile and simple. For my intended purpose, it works perfectly. However, I don't believe it is worth $140. I would value this at $50-60. The action is smooth, but it requires quite a bit of effort to push it up and down, and the latch seems to stick occasionally. Hopefully, that will work itself out over time.The design is essentially a simple mounting sleeve with a cylindrical outlet that slides inside of it. Other than a dampened pop-up action, there is nothing mechanically fancy about it. Maybe that is a good thing for reliability, but it makes me wonder why people would pay $140 for it. I purchased mine through Vine, which means I will pay roughly 10% of the retail price after taxes, so the value was high. But I definitely would have kept looking if I was paying full retail price for it.The outer sleeve contains a hole that the cable runs through. The cable is connected to the inner outlet cylinder, so when it pops up, it moves through the outer sleeve hole. Functionally, this design is fine (uncomplicated), but it means that the cable must remain straight and unkinked for 8-10" below the bottom of the mounting sleeve so that it can properly feed up and down through it. If you like everything to be perfectly cabled up like I do, this could present an aesthetic challenge. If you are mounting it in a shallower box (less than 16"), this could present a functional challenge. So just a heads up on that.
