Overwhelmed by the Spirit: Empowered to Manifest the Glory of God Throughout the Earth

Overwhelmed by the Spirit is a good book. I found the chapter called Hopeless to be an eye opener. In this chapter James describes an angel taking him to see the first level of Hell. I won't include everything that James saw but enough to reveal a picture. You can read the rest for yourself.James felt his spirit body going straight down through the ground and through the earth. Based on this, Hell must be inside the center of the earth where we think of the hot molten lava core being. I'm wondering if earthquakes and volcanos are really Hell expanding?James found himself and the angel in a large, dark cavern. The walls looked like black concrete. He heard screaming, moaning and wailing. The place was very hot like a furnace.The smell was an overpowering stench of sulfur and burning decay. He had all of his senses; sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. He found that he had to beathe just like we do as humans. So he was breathing this stinky air in and out of his lungs and breathing was difficult due to the extreme heat. James could think with his mind just as he did in our human world.Large demons were chained to the walls. They were growling and yanking on their chains. They spoke in some kind of demon language.James saw what he thought was a lake filled with very black water but instead he realized the water was an oily or gooey sludge and at the bottom of it was a multitude of narrow pits. Inside each pit was a soul submerged in the sludge and beathing the substance in and out of their soul-bodies. The souls could not climb out. They will breath that black, oily sludge in and out of their bodies forever.James believes the punishment for sin is torment and hopelessness forever and souls are not annilated after a certain period of time, instead, they are left in Hell forever to pay for their sins.A good book that describes Hell in detail is called A Land Unknown: Hell's Dominion by B.W. The author and his wife give very powerful testimony on working with the Holy Spirit including death defying attacks on the author's wife.The author prayer her out of Satan's hands and by rights she should have died after her explaining the conditions that she underwent due to mymedical knowledge. I can say for a fact they experienced numerous miracles.That is not the only thing about this book. They go into a very detailed and scholarly exegesis (Biblical research) on the Holy Spirit and His workings and how we can call upon Him to intervene on our or other's behalf.My only fault is that he uses Strong's Exhaustive Concordance a great deal in the book to explain the original Greek translations. The problem is that the overwhelming number of Christians have never heard of it because pastors don't properly equip their people for Bible study or to teach men how to be the Spiritual leader in the home. They tell them to be but don't begin to show them or teach them how. For the record it is a book that every Christian should have in his library to help him to study the Bible. The first seven out of nine chapters was attempting to show us that the Helper (Holy Spirit) is training us to present the truth to others. The overarching message of the book is evangelism. Joining with God through the Holy Spirit to witness to others that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Or that God really wants to have a relationship with everyone. I.E. that none should perish but all will have eternal life. Chapters 1-4 and 6 were hard for me too understand what the author was trying to impart to the reader. Chapter 5 was the best one of the first six chapters. This dealt with what happened to his wife and how he responded. The book seemed very dry. It would have helped to understand what the author was trying to get the reader to understand if he could have used some examples. The end of the book provides sample chapters of other books for you to read (kindle version). Not sure why they did this. The last chapter gives the reader a description of the very basic level of Hell. You may not believe the author on how he arrived at that description. The description sounds like what we would think Hell was. Even if you do not fully believe everything presented, you will get a feeling of were a person could go. With that information, the author stress the importance of evangelism so that no one will ever have to go there again.

I have read many of Dr. James Maloney’s books. Pretty much all of the books that he references in this volume. I want to believe everything he writes in this book and I hope that what he sees coming in the near future really does happen to and among the Body of Believers. I have also read many other books by those that Dr. Maloney keeps company with. They seem to foresee similar things...or perhaps greatly desire them. Dr. Maloney’s books have been very enjoyable to read contain a great degree of insight. I’ve learned something and will read them again and perhaps pick up more in the next go-round.

It has been a while since I bought this, but if I remember right, It was interesting. It couldn't have been that good, if I can't remember what it was about.

Yes, I loved this book and it helped me to see some things in a new way. I wish I had ordered it in paper back so I could have marked it, but my eyes need the bigger print of the Kindle. I will have to read it and take notes this time. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered all of his books!

It is like "What can I say." His experiences are possible but, for some of us, so out of our realm of understanding." Read it with an open mind, open heart and let the Lord show you what is possible. With God all things are possible and this books shows you some of the "all things."

Just finished reading this book. My God it is very riveting and full of divine nuggets. Dr James Maloney has a depth of spiritual understanding and a wealth of divine encounters that will really bless the body of Christ world wide. I just encounter God anytime I read his books and I am going to buy and read everything he writes because I can follow him as he follows Christ the LORD. We are told in Hebrews 6:12 to be followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Dr Maloney is such a one to follow because He loves the LORD and lives for Him.

I've read a few of James Maloney's books and I like his style especially the importance that he places on The unique loving holiness of God.. I found this book thought provoking. It's good to read writing that works through pain and doesn't dismiss it or say get over itin the onslaught of life its freeing to glimpse another perspective.......and great that this book is available on kindle

bit long winded over explanation of words very detailed explenations but stll fairly good read

Awesome, inspiring, insiteful, Dr Jim at his best, couldn't put it down. His vast knowledge and experience and Gods hand on his life and his writing clearly comes through the pages. His teaching is clear, inspring as Spririt lead. A must read for all Christians and non Christians in this time we are in.

I wish I had James Maloney's gifts.
