I am very pleased with this meter after I installed new batteries- bright screen and 3 of 3 bars. The installed batteries only showed 2 of 3 bars upon startup, and the screen was dim to fading in and out. I wanted to use it with new batteries before I sent it back. I did not want the hassle to return it; I thought the cost of the batteries ($3.75) was a reasonable expense. I really believe the meter is accurate and worth its price.

So Returned first the replacement item is worse! Picture shows leaking batteries (white material on battery) and then switched on battery almost dead. Amazon getting bad name from poor products on the site.
