Must use the APP
If you want a soil meter that only works with an app, then this is a 5-star review. The app is very informative and helps me make choices about what to do to help my plants. This is not a meter for you if you don't want to use an APP.

Pretty good for the purpose.
I have to confess, I ordered this thinking it was a constant monitoring probe. It is actually meant for spot checks and seems quite good for that purpose. Let's get the bad out of the way first. While the probe part seems very well made, the top control part seems a bit flimsy. I had to be careful not to use the top to push the probe into the soil. Also, I really don't like the privacy policy on the app. It seems extremely broad. The app is a little basic, but I like all the data it collects, and I really like that I can export that data.

Not reliable, bad meter. avoid at all cost.
This meter is crap, the PH readings are all over the place. I have two of these soil PH meters and both suck this one always reads extreamly low, like 5.0 PH and the other reads high like 8.0. I have calibrated but it never reads correctly. Dont buy the only thing reliable is the temp reading. The EC readings are off. The salt readings are off. Avoid this meter at all cost.

Works as promised, provides valuable data on soil status
I followed the instructions for the digital soil tester. I downloaded the app, turned on Bluetooth on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, opened the app and it immediately connected. I noticed in the app store that the app got bad reviews, frequently citing bad Bluetooth connection, and losing Bluetooth connection the minute another app was used. I had none of those problems and in fact, I tried to get it to disconnect by using other apps, etc. It stayed connected. It quickly gave me moisture pH and salt readings for some pots where I’m growing herbs. All seemed accurate. One whole side of the plasticized instructions is devoted to calibrating for pH levels. Interestingly, the directions contradict themselves. See my photo. One one page says the device is calibrated from the factory and doesn’t need to be calibrated before use, while the other side says, while it was calibrated at the factory, it needs to recalibrated before first use. Go figure. The device uses 4 AAA which are provided. Easy access to the batter compartment. The apps data is easily read. The values are big, the display is easy to read. There are a number of other data points; See photo. I will use this for determining when it’s time to fertilize my pots, and to check on the salt and pH levels. It was accurate with respect to temperature, moisture and brightness and very easy to set up. Just do everything in the order that is listed. Overall, this is a handy tool and easily connected to my phone. The data it provides will prove valuable over time as I am able to save all the readings for historical reference. Overall, recommended.

basic but very functional soil pH Meter for our backyard raised bed garden...
Great after tilling the soil, treating with fertilizer along with watering and fattening the soil just before planting seedlings, this helps to check the quality and readiness of the soil. It really is better than just guessing or trying your luck without actually having a tester. I only wish it had a rechargeable battery instead of using disposable batteries for the high price. It promotes soil testing and effective gardening, yet it also promotes landfill and earth's toxic trash by utilizing disposable batteries.

Fun garden gadget, but don’t trust the pH reading
This soil tester is an interesting gadget that links to your phone and shows multiple values. In my testing: Light readings were accurate. Temperature was close. Humidity looked reasonable. Conductivity seemed believable. Then I got to the pH… it told me my garden soil was 13.5. If that were true, my poor habaneros would have melted into the ground. A check with a proper wet-bulb unit confirmed the real pH was 6.5, same as always. “Bad Mr. Garden Tester,” I said. It even comes with calibration buffer powders, which is almost funny since the probe design doesn’t look like it could ever measure pH correctly in the first place. Overall, it’s a neat little multi-sensor for light, moisture, and maybe conductivity, but definitely not for soil pH. If you want to actually test acidity, stick with a proper meter.

An environmental monitor for gardeners, with a big list of features
This device provides insight into a wide variety of environmental conditions that would be of interest to gardeners. The list of features includes pH measurement, electrical conductivity, environmental humidity, salinity, and soil fertility. I tested this on a tomato plant growing in a pot on my deck, and the device returned good numbers. This is a 'blind' instrument, meaning that it has no display of its own, but depends on a Bluetooth connection with either an Android phone or an iPhone (QR patterns are provided to link to the app store for each phone variety). After a brief procedure, the device paired easily with my iPhone. One thing I normally look for, in electronic devices imported from China, is the quality of the provided documentation or instruction manual. In this instance, the provided support is superb, and consists of a glossy multi-fold with all the information you would need to know about how to use this device. I have reviewed other devices from this manufacturer, and they do a great job in this respect. The pH measurement feature can be calibrated, and like in other instruments from this manufacturer, they include three packets of calibration powder, along with a detailed procedure for calibrating pH. The packets of powder can be dissolved in distilled water to create three reference solutions with a pH of 4.0, 7.0, and 10.01, thereby providing for a precise three point calibration. I have no means of testing whether the other functions of this device are accurate, aside from the ambient temperature and humidity readings, which correspond closely with another weather instrument I use. Serious amateur gardeners will find this device both useful, as well as (hopefully) reassuring about the conditions in their garden.
