Great and Easy Read For Kids

Perfect for any middle grade graphic novel lovers! And accurate dyslexia rep!
This is a fast and enjoyable graphic novel about middle-grade friendship struggles and self-discovery. It follows Stella (~age 10) as she starts her fifth-grade year. The first day of school is a happy one as Stella and her best friends are all placed in the same class. But trouble brews as Stella's friends spend more and more time playing an online game--a game Stella wants to play but can't understand. Stella also falls behind in school, spending many recesses indoors catching up on work and also to avoiding the chatter about the online game. The conflict revolves positively and realistically. The art is also colorful and engaging. Overall, it's a solid pick for any child who likes graphic novels. But here's what I LOVE about this book. It actually gets dyslexia right! Too many books with dyslexic characters perpetuate stereotypes or promote outdated "cures." In contrast, this book is on point both in how dyslexia is depicted and the type of help Stella receives. This is so, so needed! A copy of this book needs to be in every classroom in America. As the mother of dyslexic twins, five million stars! More books about Stella, please!

Love This!
My daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia years ago and she LOVED this book! She even brought it to school to show her best friend who is dyslexic as well! It made her feel so much better about herself! I am so proud of how much she is embracing all of herself. Highly recommend!!!

Worth your time!
This is a fantastic graphic novel! I added it to our potential Battle of the Books list because I think it will speak to kids and adults alike.

Story about dyslexia and the challenges around it for students. My daughter loves this book. It helps her feel seen and understood and puts someone like her as the main character. It brought up so many great ways to relate and talk about her feelings and challenges. I highly recommend this graphic novel to everyone!!! Especially girls with dyslexia or reading difficulties or friends of students with these challenges.
