Works Great
My furnace was running way to much for a newly renovated home. I installed this device after discovering I had no damper in my chimney. The difference is night and day. I've cut my HVAC run time in more than half. I ordered a flueblocker that was 3" longer and 3" wider than my flue. By pushing the flueblocker up higher than it should be then pulling it down into position, the overlap created a tight seal. I would not recommend getting one that is the exact size as your flue or your will not be able to get a tight seal without overlap. Installing while HVAC is running also helps you to feel for any areas that have not sealed and adjust accordingly. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a cheaper remedy to outside drafts.

Great product
I have no flue in my chimney and was using insulation to close up the drafts. This fits perfectly and covers from end to end. So easy to remove for fireplace usage and return when not in use. Quality materials and workmanship.

needed support
The size I ordered was pretty close to the size of my flue/damper opening but it would not stay in place. I had to get two dowel rods and cut them to hold the cover in place. Hope it works for the long term. The amount of air coming in seems to have decreased.

Popped right in
I called the company to be sure that this was the right product to block the hot air from drafting up the old unused fireplace. He explained to me how to install it and where it got it's name. Very personable and informative. It popped right into the chimney.

Measure correctly!!
MAKE SURE TO GET THE RIGHT SIZE! I ordered one that was too small and it barely stuck up in our chimney. Of course I could not return it because by the time we got it up there, it was all sooty! So measurements are of utmost importance. I thought I had measured correctly but I didn't.

Unless you have a directly accessible flue, and no flue cover, this product basically doesn't work.
I appreciate the idea of this product, that's why I bought one. But once I started trying to put it in I realized how impractical it is. I have a fairly common looking wood burning fireplace. The first hurdle is the flue cover, which only opens up a few inches, and I had to awkwardly climb into the fireplace (I'm skinny, this would be impossible for a bigger guy) in order to be able to stick my arm into that gap. All this hardship would be okay if this thing can actually stick into the flue nicely, which was the big gamble I consciously took when placing this order. I knew I picked a size that fit my measurement, I knew it would be tricky to get in there to put it up, the only question was whether it would stay up there nicely, and this was a practically unreturnable purchase since I would have to make it dirty to find out whether it works. Well, now I know the answer is a somewhat resounding no. The material is too soft, and it always leaves a gap. Trust me, I stayed in there for a long time, trying different angles and methods, the pad always seems to either curve up or sag down, leaving a gap with the wall. If the flue cover wasn't there, I might have had better control over its positioning, but I can't imagine any fireplace not having a flue cover. Again, all fireplaces are different, maybe yours is more accessible or it's possible to put this pad under the flue cover, but be very careful before buying, since you'll have to get it dirty before finding out whether it works.

(Update after 4 years) Love this product, and it's got a cute name.
2022 - updated after 4 years: the flue blocker is no longer a rectangular shape and has turned S-shaped along it's sides. So only the two short ends fit snugly inside the chimney, the other two long sides, you could pass a whole paper towel tube between it and the brick. Useless to my needs, I only realized it was all screwy when my cat managed to capture a lizard that came in from outside via this pair of wide openings.2019 review: Installation was easy and it stopped the humidity, heat and creosote smell from coming down my chimney. It has also been great at keeping the mortar dust from falling out.
