This was a lifesaver for me. The Windows 10 operating system on my older PC crashed. It had a 1 terabyte internal hard drive and another internal 2 TB hard drive. I won't go into all the things I tried to repair the main drive, but trust me, the operating system was FUBAR. So I figured I would try to see if I could somehow read the drives without the OS. So I bought this external hard drive reader and it turned out to be the perfect solution for me. It was easy to use; I plugged in each hard drive that I had removed from my PC and connected it to the USB3 port on my laptop computer. My laptop recognized the external drive, and fortunately for me most of my personal data was still there. From my laptop I was able to run a Window's disk repair (chkdsk command with /f and /r parameters) and was able to extract important data and save it to my laptop, which I then copied to other drives. I used to have an old clunky external hard drive reader that was pretty much useless. But this one is like the Swiss army knife of external drive adapters. It's pretty ingenious how the the various connectors can fit most any hard drive. Anyone who has experienced that sinking feeling when their PC suddenly displays the "blue screen of death" or other software failures will hopefully, like me, bring their blood pressure back down when they realize all is not lost. I realize that there are some computer problems caused by a hard drive's mechanical failure that are not easy to extract data from. But for the low price on this hard drive reader, it's well worth trying.

I ordered this to use on an old IDE 2.5 laptop hard drive. it just would not stay on it disconnected to many times . I did use it to look though a SATA hard drive it worked prefect on it. I think the old laptop drive used more amps to spend up. Have not tired it on 3.5 IDE drives yet that are newer. So i recommend getting a IDE to SATA adapter and plug it in using a USB 3.0 duel cable . In case you are wondering i took my docking station apart and used a IDE to SATA adapter to get the files off. for those that don't get my line of thought it's this due to the fact the docking station can control the amps needed. And no i didn't want to order a SATA to USB 3.0 cable . I gave it five stars because it works as the adapter should its just my hard drive takes more amps. the thing is.that old but still work so was able to get my files off .

Absolutely no issues. Works as it should. I used it for every type drive it was advertised to work with. I had drives that had been stored for years, and was able to retrieve all the old data that was on them.

While the packaging looks nice and the product is easy to use. It did not work as intended. Within seconds, it failed and wouldn't work again. I honestly thought my hard drive was going to catch on fire. Inside the computer, the hard drive worked fine, but on this device, it didn't function properly at all.

Not the best, but it does the job sometimes. Some drives are not loading up, but using a different adapter, they do
