Helpful but beware of errors
The book is quite helpful in summarising everything overall, however I received it creased and there is an error on page 188 in relation to opinion evidence: the CEA must be 1972, not 1995.

Fantastic book to give you a head start!
Really great book, I only wish they did separate books for the electives! This gave me a really great starting point for the LPC - easy to read, good examples and was a great aid when it came to doing the mock.Only change I would make is to have it as a ring bound book so it could be separated into sections and taken into open book exams!Would highly recommend this book.

Could Be Better
Having just finished my Core Practice Area exams at BPP Law School, I thought it due time to review this book.Firstly, I will start by saying that I recognise that the book is not meant to be a be all and end all replacement for the notes you are provided through your school and it most certainly shouldn't be.Something that irritated me about this book is that it does not necessarily follow the structure for answering questions the way BPP does and therefore when comparing the book to the solutions provided it does shake your confidence in the product. Moreover, if you are using the book beside the solutions anyway, due to your now broken confidence, then what's really the point of having it - not to mention at the price of £55 (shipping included).I've also found several statutory references which were wrong or innacurate. So as a revision guide I'd say it's a decent skeleton but definitely not the flesh and bones - you're better off sticking to the lovely solutions provided by your uni. What this book is good for is introducing you to a topic and I will say that it is idiot-proof. It does explain the concepts well and even where you have no knowledge it will give you a good general understanding so I would highly reccomend this as a starting point before attending seminars. All in all, mixed feelings, the authors should go through it and clean up the statutory references and provide structures for answering practical problem questions which are more reflective of the solutions at BPP (which are indeed better). Also, the procedure plans are quite off and in BLP specifically that can be a 24 mark question for the exam so you would think the authors and editors would have done a better job at that.So do I like the book? Kind of. Would I buy it again? Let's see when I get my results.

Be cautious using this book...
Lots of the provisions are wrong! I have to go through with a fine tooth comb to ensure I don't quote the wrong sections, rules etc. For something that is £50 plus, it is frustrating that it is not something I can rely on for even the basics.

Holy Bible for LPC
Thank God I bought this. I would be lost at stage 1. The reason I got through stage 1 is because of this beauty. I used this handbook in conjunction with my main/core texts which helped me to condense and contextualise the knowledge I gathered from the core texts. Really helpful for revision and using for exam prep. It's also got recommendations for other texts in the series and covers everything that came up in my exams. It's a life-saver. Seriously. Get it.
