Yogurt Maker Great; included dish is not
I have used the yogurt maker once for a36 hour yogurt fermentation. It worked great. What was not great was the metal container which is included. I should have taken a photo but something wore off of the dish and left metal looking marks on the yogurt maker. Today, I found a shard of something in my yogurt. I am meticulous about cleanliness when I am fermenting foods. I am keeping the yogurt maker but warn others not to use the included metal dish. It is not something you want in your fermented foods.

Shockingly good yogurt!
When I say this makes the best yogurt I’ve ever eaten, this isn’t an understatement. It really is the best yogurt I’ve ever eaten. I used to make yogurt every now and then using a slow cooker/crock pot. However, after I kashered my kitchen, I didn’t want to get a separate dairy crockpot just for making yogurt every now and then. After not having yogurt in the house when I wanted it, spending more than I wanted on it, or letting it go bad in the fridge because I didn’t use it too many times, I decided to invest in a gadget that just serves one purpose (to me). This was significantly marked down when I got it so I thought it couldn’t hurt.I used store bought, cholav yisroel, whole milk Greek yogurt as a starter. The inner chamber holds 1 quart of milk. It was easy to use and came out perfect after fermenting for 8 hours (although you can add more hours if you like more of a tang). After straining twice through cheesecloth (I like a very thick yogurt but you do you), the result was pretty mind blowing. I don’t think I’ll be able to have store bought yogurt again. I used the leftover whey for the second batch and the result was equally delicious. My only complaint is that it doesn’t make enough at once. But I feel like this little guy is just a victim of its own success with that statement. It’s just that good! I will be the first to admit the instructions were perhaps written by someone whose first language is not English. That being said, I still found them easy to follow. It’s basically pour in your milk and starter, set it, and forget it. Much easier than making yogurt on the stove top or crock pot.
