Johnny's U.S. Open Paperback – August 1, 2013

I am man enough to admit that I cheered, hollered and cried my way through this book and along the way I faced the man who stole my dream. It was my father, he died unexpectedly at the age of 39. Leaving behind the woman of his dreams, two sons and a daughter. I have been angry at him for decades, and yet in the words I read here, I have received forgiveness and I have forgiven..my dad in Heaven, one day I will see and I will run to him and beg to be forgiven by him.. He is likely to hug me in a way only a father can.. My Heavenly Father has done that for me already. If you are seeking answers, here is a book that points the way. You see, I too have been a seeker, only when I admitted that I was not in control, that I'm a sinner in need of a Savior could I turn my heart toward our Creator and ask to be forgiven and turn my life around and become a follower of Jesus.No, there is no Johnny in my life but I, with God's help might become one in another's life. Thank you Dr. Cook, I hope to see you someday soon around Utopia. May the God of Abraham, Isaac continue to use you as you offer the challenge of becoming a Johnny for someone. Your friend Ed

This is a great inspirational story for a golfer, sports enthusiast or someone with an understanding of the game to regain some trust and belief in God. You don't really try to drag God into the sports arena, but sometimes he winds up there because sports are so much like life, with good moments and bad times. The story is a great inspiration and well worth the read. Maybe even buy a few copies to pass on to friends and acquaintances. You have to read the first story "7 Days in Utopia" to get a good understanding of the conclusion in this well written book. Cook can definitely reach down in your soul and find something for you to think about! The setting is great, good story line and hard to put down once you begin.

Life is not always what we hoped it would be, but God gives us a second chance to get it right. There are dream snatchers everywhere, we have to listen beyond the voice of the defeaters, to hear the voice of the one who gave us the dream.

Most of us, myself included, choose the path that permits us to make the choices that determine the outcome or at least we would like to think that. However, when we choose a path and let God determine the outcome by doing what he has instructed us to do, the journey is much more enjoyable and the outcome matters not. "Be still and know that I am God" Remember, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength". What a tribute to our Military men and women that sacrifice everything for what they believe in. The greatest gift anyone can give is "to lay down ones life for another".

This book is amazing. Dr Cook has a way of mixing in just enough golf to teach you so many important life lessons. This book is a a great read, could not put it down. I finished this book in one day! Not only did I learn about the mental aspect of life and golf but the book really focused on what is and is not important in life.I recommend this book to everyone. Can't wait to see if they make a movie about this book as well!

I recently saw the movie 'Seven Days in Utopia'. It left you wondering what happened next. So I bought the book and the sequel, 'Johnny's U. S. Open (Golf's Sacred Journey).' Wow! They were both good, but the second book was one of the best books that I've read in a long time. I don't know much about golf, so I was in the dark about the golf terms used, but the story was wonderful. I highly recommend both books! But you need to read 'Seven Days in Utopia' first.

I cannot imagine what people on the plane thought as I fought back tears when reading of the little pianist in the antique shop. The courage of her father, herself, and the shop owner.What great life lessons, based on the direction, forgiveness and courage of this world's Savior. During this season, this book helps all to recall that; He IS the Gift! Thank you - a must read!

An outstanding book to read. Nearly read the whole book in one setting....could not put it down. Highly recommend this book but you have to read Golf's Scared Journey 1 to fully understand everything in this book. It is a great book too!
