Q: Why does it have added sugar?

Thanks for reaching out. The Blue Diamond Almond Flour does not have any added sugar. Almonds have natural sugar inside them that is where the 1g is coming from. Thanks *MS

Q: Would this work well for making cookies and cakes? Would this use less then a typical flour recipe?

I substitute almond flour for part of the regular flour in cookie recipes and have had no problems. I also partially substitute it for regular flour in cookie crusts and in pie crust and they are nutty which I love, but they're a little more coarse but I like this texture because I love nuts. Almond flour is more of a "meal" rather than actual flour.
