5G NR: The Next Generation Wireless Access Technology

Just as the authors previous book "3G Evolution - HSPA and LTE for Mobile Broadband" is the Bible for 4G, this new book is the Bible for 5G. I was waiting for this book for long time, and it did not disappointed me once I received it and read through. 5G protocol stack is more complicated than 4G. To be honest, I don't think I can understand the 38.xxx spec without reading this book / Bible.

I own the authors' 3G and 4G books, the hardcover version have excellent print and binding quality, these 3G/4G books have very well arranged chapters which covers various aspects of the RAN and Air-interface technologies, the explanations are clear and very easy to understand.I pre-ordered the NR book (1st edition) and waited for several months. I was satisfied with the contents, some of the chapters are arranged the same/similar way as the corresponding topics in the author's LTE books.However, the print and binding quality are so bad, can't even match with the laser/inject printer, color graphs printed in low resolution B&W, the combination makes the reading very difficult... It just spoiled the whole thing..I ordered another book, 5G Physical Layer: Principles, Models and Technology Components, the same issue. very poor print and binding quality,The 2nd edition of the 5G NR book is coming, I will definitely wait and check the print quality before buying...

Great layout that makes it easy to learn.

Not organized at all, architecture is not covered, always mention a topic that will be discussed later when explaining earlier chapter which makes understanding very hard..Don't recommend at all, 5g in bullets is much better..

Lots of detail

Content is good, but publication quality is VERY poor. In fact, it looks like it was printed on a dot matrix printer with low quality paper. To add insult to injury, they even raised the price by 50% compared to previous versions, which were hard bound and professionally printed on good quality paper. Huge step down.

An excellent book on 5G NR. a bit dated though, since its second edition is available now

Den schwedischen Autoren ist eine ausgezeichnete Beschreibung zum 5G New Radio gelungen. Selbst mit exzellenten Kenntnissen aus dem Mobilfunkbereich wäre es sehr mühsam, sich die im Buch dargestellten Sachverhalte aus den 3GPP- Standards anzulesen. Sehr gelungen sind die vielen Illustrationen, die komplexe Themen begreifbar machen. Zu beachten ist, dass das Buch im Dez. 17 fertiggestellt wurde und bis zur Finalisierung der NR- Standards noch einige Änderungen vorgenommen wurden.Nicht teilen kann ich die Kritik einiger Rezensenten über die Qualität des Buches.Fazit: Wer das 5G NR im Detail verstehen will, dem kann ich dieses Fachbuch sehr empfehlen.

To the best of my knowledge, it's the first book about NR that has been published since 3GPP Release 15 was finalised. Because of this, it is a straight forward overview of R15, without lots of speculation as to what may or may not be in it. It has what I regard as a helpful layered structure. If you know nothing and want to know something, you can read the first few chapters. After that you can dip down into areas that interest you.

Good overview on the different procedures in 5g. High level details aggregating physical layer specifications. Good for understanding specifications before you go and check the actual details from specifications.Book could have been better structured. It has so many forth references which at times makes reading difficult.Book will provide you with clear understanding on high level details in 5g. Examples scenarios are very helpful.

Dieses Fachbuch entspricht nicht meinen Erwartungen. Der Sachverhalt wird zu wenig mit Grafiken verdeutlicht. So bleiben Informationen unverstanden zurück. Es gibt bessere Alternativen.
