Easily modify if you want simple sliding action.
I just wanted a simple lock to slide back and forth from inside the garage only. This one is a little more complicated. It seemed like I would need to insert a flat head screwdriver into one of the slots to unlock it each time because it snaps in place once you slide it over. It won't budge after without a flat head. Instead I took the one screw it had out to access the mechanism. I then easily gutted everything out of it and put the screw back on. Now it slides back and forth without any tension, just what I wanted!! While it had installation instructions it had no operating instructions. Anyway, I prefer my modified DYI solution with this product.

Perfect extra security
Works well and easy to release from locked position when inside the garage. Lost a star because it came without mounting screws and outside access requires two additional purchases, which did not affect my application but could annoy others. See the mfr's website for part numbers.
