Jewelers Wood Bench Pin w/Metal Holder Wide Anvil Tool

Bought this mostly for the metal holder, good price and free shipping. The wooden pin feels cheap and does not fit the slot in the holder well i took some little wood shims (about 4mm worth) and taped then on the top and bottom of the pin. Without this, while sawing the pin wobbles up and down due to the poor fit, even with the screw on the side as tight as it will go. I'll replace it eventually. The metal holder is good, just what i wanted. NOTE: it is pictured with mounting screws to secure it to your bench, I did not receive screws, so i supplied my own #8 screws. Would have been 5 stars if the pin fit the holder without modification and if screws were included as pictured.

Very solid and well made bench pin. My present bench won't allow me to use the clamp type, so I tried this. Some similar ones got a lot of complaints that the pin was too loose in the holder. This is NOT the case with this one - the pin fits well, and when you tighten the screw it is solid. Also, the pin is made of hardwood, not soft pine like some. It doesn't have an anvil, but I prefer a separate anvil that I can move around. I just use some steel cut-offs from a metal supply place that I got for for cheap. I've been doing jewelry since the 1960s, and I know the difference between quality and junk.

It appears to be sold and well made, with a hardwood pin. My workbench has an edge that is far too thick for all the bench pins on clamps, so this is perfect. No screws are included. It has a blue coating that was chipped, but that doesn’t matter. However, the description says it has an anvil, but it does not. It wouldn’t be wide enough for an anvil anyway, I like one I can put on the bench. I took off a star for that since it might make a difference to someone else, since it’s not as described.

Very nice quality metal bracket that screws to the bench. Wood is nice and solid, only issue is the wood piece needs to be shimmed just slightly. Even with the thumb screw on the side tight the wood can move up and down a bit. I used s few layers of painters type on the top and bottom. Problem solved. I'm still happy with it and would buy again.

It came just as described. The block came uncut. I prefer to cut my own, anyway. The wood is soft but it'll last a long while before needing to be replaced. I find it to be really sturdy with the side screw, and after a week of use I haven't needed to tighten it.

Perfect for my needs. Screw included made it very secure. I’ll need to customize for my use but that’s the whole point of getting this item. I’m looking forward to using it!

The benchpin itself is not square so it sits in the mount slightly askew. Overall it will still work and the mount is great and with a simple turn screw it could be used to hold different pins in different shapes as long as one end is rectangular.

It works exactly as I expected it would. I cut it out in the shape I use (silversmith) and the metal holder has lasted and I expect it will for a long time.
