Deed still fighting even up to the last series
I have always liked this drama all the way through but sad it finished like it did, even sending Deed to the Hague did not stop his womanising and yet still a nail biting episode with a bomb going off.I still like Deed making his way back to jo they suited each other,Well worth watching the DVD set to get a feel of each character that is well acted from a group of great actors I enjoyed every episode.

Best legal series ever made
Purchased this import as could not find (at the time) a UK copy. They say the law is an ass and sometimes I think it is, with soft sentences given out. Judge John Deed played by Martin Shaw (excellent choice) portrays a judge with a forward thinking attitude to law etc and where he thinks the establishment has got things wrong, puts his own spin on the way justice should be dispensed. Often at loggerheads with his fellow judges and the LCD, Judge John Deed is a man who will go the extra mile to get to the truth and not bow down to political pressure or any outside interference.Deed is a womaniser, often coming into conflict with his fellow judges.Story lines are interesting throughout the series (series 6 being the last - a seventh was planned but was shelved at the last minute as it was apparently becoming too political etc).

Final Season For Judge Deed
I have been a great fan of Judge Deed since I first started to watch them on BBC a few years back. One thing struck me though was the consistency of all six series regarding performances, and story lines. Criticized for being far fetched which is probably true since it is unlikely that any high court Judge would behave in this way. Nevertheless, it is just television drama, and a damn good one too.The final series contains two episodes split into four parts. Both are extremely watchable and thought provoking, especially the story set in The Hague around a war crimes tribunal. With good supporting casts such as Kim Thomson, Juliet Aubrey and Murray Head. Picture quality is also very good, and enhanced by a dolby digital soundtrack. For those die hard fans who have enjoyed the previous five series, I am sure they will add this one to complete the set.

Would there were more Judges Deed!
Judge John Deed is one of the best series I have seen in a long time. It is a great pity it was discontinued and that the last two episodes of series 5 are not available. Through the cases tried by Judge Deed, a lot of very topical questions are discussed - questions that are being discussed all over the world (e.g. the independence of the judiciary from politics, the responsibility of pharmaceutical companies, the right not to submit to medical treatment, intimidation, racism, etc.). In series 6 the last two episodes are best, the first two are much weaker, probably the weakest of all the series. The role is made for Martin Shaw, who gives his best performace in the portayal of the Judge.

I really like this show
Judge John Deed is (in my opinion) a great TV show. It takes a swipe at "the system" and "stuffy convention". I think it plays to the same sense of right and wrong that Inspector Frost did, in many ways. It's not meant to be "reality" but rather fiction based on reality. The relationship between John Deed and Jo Mills gets played to death, and is very trying for the viewer to watch at times. The whole "will they or won't they?" thing is overdone. And how many times can a reasonably smart professional man make the same mistakes that jeopardise his career over and over? I guess maybe the hook for the viewer here is "how is he going to get his bacon out of the fire THIS time?"It's still a great show, and Martin Shaw is great in the role. It's been said that he's not the best actor ever to be born in Britain, (The Professionals was a bit of a joke, sorry, and The Chief was a bit better) but he can play a lovable rogue, that's for sure. I think he plays the part of George Gently rather well, too, but that's another review.Just let go and remember that it's not real, and it can be an enjoyable show.

Excellent BBC Series
I would recommend the whole 6 DVD series. I wish there was more programmes on TV like Judge John Deed. Excellent acting, characters and stories. The Brits know how to do it.

Tres bon serie BBC
I recommend this BBC series. It's unfortunate that it came to a sudden end for purely political reasons!

Hervorragende Unterhaltung!
Eine Serie die man sehen sollte, allemal sehr lohnenswert!! Nachteil ist allerdings, die Serie gibt es nur in Englisch. Tolle Schauspieler.

Excellent . Want more

Great series - I'll miss it
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the episodes throughout the 6 series of Judge John Deed. If you haven't seen them all, I envy you the journey. While some people did not enjoy the final season 6, I have to say that I did. I was not at all upset that Jo Mills shows up as just Mrs. Mills, and her marriage in season 5 is irrelevant in season 6. That's great by me; I thought that the plot line with her marrying Marc was the weakest of the 6 seasons. The final season is made up of two long episodes, each broken into two parts. So you have a DVD for each of the episodes with parts 1 and 2 - nice for those of us who want to stretch out the viewing pleasure. I would liked to have seen more episodes, but I'm not sure they could have ended the series any better than they did. And had the show moved forward, there would surely have been some major changes. Leaving us wanting more was not a bad idea.
