WILD REPUBLIC California Quail

My Golden doodle is obsessed with this toy and it sounds like a real bird. He carries around in his mouth all day and loves to hear the squeak. We are thinking of getting him another one that makes a different sound because this one is so cute. It’s very good value for the money and it’s a long lasting toy.

These little birds are totally charming. Our three year old granddaughter loves it!

Members of my family have now bought about a dozen of these Wild Republic Plush Birds with Authentic Bird Sounds. My kids save up for them with their own money, and I like to give them as gifts. They always look exactly as pictured, so we're not misled or disappointed. The sounds are pretty realistic, too, and sometimes we are tricked into thinking we hear a real bird when this toy sings. Of the birds we've purchased, most of them last well over two years (sometimes 3-4 years) on the delivered battery. There doesn't seem to be any way to change a battery, though, so once they're out, you are just left with a cute little stuffed bird.

This thing is awesome. It is life-size and has a realistic call built-in. I actually use it for dog training and it works great.

I used a ton of these wild republic stuffed animals for the Christmas tree for a Woodland Christmas and it came out great.

This was a hit for show and tell. Super cute, soft and love the noise it makes for the quail.

Well crafted. Size is accurate. Looks exactly as pictured. The battery is dead, so no sound. I don't really care about that since I just bought it for its looks, but as others have said the lack of sound is a bit disappointing.

I own two plush California Quails. One is larger with a white tummy and a three-dimensional black plume, and the other is smaller with a brown tummy that has light-colored spots on the brown tummy. The smaller quail has a black plume, but it is only two-dimensional and it was cut out of a flat sheet of black-colored felt. Both of my quails make the same sound when they are squeezed. The product under review is the smaller of the two quails. My wife loves birds, such as crows, blue jays, egrets, and pelicans. And so, she enjoys it when I thrust one or both of my plush quails out in front of her, and squeeze its tummy, and cause them to sing. I also like to do landscape photography, and I have posed a foot-long plush lizard, an 8-inch tall plush chipmunk, an older model Strawberry Shortcake, and both of my plush California quails when I do photography in the desert. My little plush animals have been to Joshua Tree National Park, Arches National Park, Death Valley National Park, and Red Rock Canyon State Park (located southwest of Ridgecrest, CA). The attached photo shows both of my quails (the larger one and the smaller one) at Red Rock Canyon State Park. I posted this photograph of the Mojave Desert Photographers Facebook site, and it got 200 LIKES within one day. And so, on behalf of all of these two hundred people, what I want to say is that this, Wild Republic Audubon California Quail is liked by many, many people.

Although the product was a bit smaller then I had imagined, my son, the avid bird lover, was delighted to open it Christmas morning. It is well made and the material is very soft. I also really appreciate that the bird sound is very life like while not being annoyingly loud. Very timely shipping at an unbeatable price! Will definitely be ordering more in the future.

I wrote the company to tell them the bird sound mechanism doesn’t work. They didn’t write back. If I attempt to exchange via Amazon, it won’t get fixed by Christmas…grr
