Worked great in my table saw
I ordered a couple of these Hitachi Soft Start modules to retrofit my table saw and shop vac. They're rated for 15A which is more than enough for my tools and unlike cheaply build no-name modules it has heavy 16ga wire and a heat sink to dissipate the heat generated from being in-line with the motor. Wiring the module into my saw was really easy - I just added some spade connectors and a Y adapter on neutral so I could insert it into the existing wiring without modifying the saw. The saw still starts pretty fast, much faster than the no-name module I had to use for my miter saw, but slower and quieter than it used to be. Best of all this authentic Hitachi part was less expensive than the no-name modules! Honestly I would have preferred to use one of these in my miter saw also but with the heat sink it was too big to fit.

has simple schematic on the back, worked great.
good value, has a heat sink, adjustable, arrived fast, has simple schematic on the back, worked great. My chop saw recently started tripping the 15 Amp AF breaker the garage shares with some bedrooms. I couldn't tell if it was tripping on amps or arcs. New brushes didn't help. This looked small enough to fit in my chop saw handle but I wish I hadn't tried to put it into the handle, kind of a nightmare to get the handle off, then inside the handle I would have no access to the potentiometer, plus ultimately wouldn't fit. But if I'd been thinking harder at the beginning I never would have tried to take the handle off. Has EU brown/blue color code so I looked that up:blue=neutral. For some 12VDC RV project I bought an extension cord because that was the lowest $/ft 16 AWG jacketed cable. This soft-start module plus the plug form the cord and some parts I had around worked great to wire up a soft-start outlet box. Solved the problem also, saw starts/works great in the original outlet. I seem to be able to tell the amount of soft start increases as the pot is turned counterclockwise. Good luck.

Works Great
Hitachi 371468 Soft Start C10Rj Worth the money. Easy install. Added this Soft Start device to a Dewalt 7491 table saw. Works GREAT...

Works great on my Dewalt chop saw
Relatively straightforward to install electrically. The other reviews gave enough directions. The issues are just how to physically include the device, but removing a bit of plastic for the heatsink to pop out was the only thing i needed to do. The functionality is a clear removal of that first big 'thunk' as the 12" blade spins up. It is still a quick start, but quick as in 1 second, not quick as in hell for leather. Took about 30 minutes to add it until it was all enclosed again.

Works perfect in DEWALT DWE7485
It was easy to install and fits inside the switch box. I really appreciate the smooth start. The biggest difference for me was if I left my cross cut slide or some other jig and place it used to be that when I turned on the saw the jitter would mess up my cut line now with the soft start the blade move so smooth that doesn’t even rattle sideways and affect the kerf. Of course your blade shouldn’t be in a kerf when it starts up, but reality be realiting… Besides that the start up used to be so sudden, it was almost scary as a sound to those around and you wondered if it was harsh on the components This is just so much smoother

Soft Start Did Not Work As Described Until I Adjusted The Potentiometer
Soft Start Did Not Work As Described. I connected this soft starter to a 1/2 HP, 10A (run), induction motor. The work load is only about 1/3 of it's full load capacity, 3.8A. Using two clamp on amp meters I checked peak amps before and after connecting the soft-start. I ran about 10 different tests. There was no significant difference between using it and not using it. I also connected my shop-vac to it and checked the peak amps before and after. No significant difference. I couldn't even hear a difference in the sound of the shop-vac when it started. I also checked an incandescent lamp to see if I could see a ramp in the brightness of the bulb when it was turned on, and I couldn't tell a difference. BTW, I used two peak capture amp meters, and I tested two different soft-start modules. I triple checked my wiring. Finally, I discovered the built-in Potentiometer and turned it 1/2 turn CCW to increase the on-delay time and it worked.

Good soft start module
As an experiment, I installed this soft start module in a utility box with switch and duplex outlet for use on various tools that do not have built in soft start features. Works well for both brushed universal motors and induction motors. As I get time, I will build this module into the more frequently used items. The heat sink is effective. The module stays cool through both multiple start/stop cycles and long continuous running. There is a wiring diagram on the bottom of the module which I copied for future reference since it is hidden when the unit is fastened to a mounting point. Mounting lugs are small, but appropriate for the size and weight of the module.

Worked great on my Dewalt DWE7491RS Table Saw
I installed this device in the Start Stop switch enclosure straight out of the box without adjusting the trim pot on the back. My table saw now starts up smooth. No more violent bang on startup. I wired it according to a picture posted by another reviewer here and found the text below from someone on Reddit very helpful. Text from a Reddit contributor: - Soft Start Module Black (hot) connected to Black wire from motor. - Soft Start Module Brown (signal) connected to switch terminal where black wire from motor used to be connected. - Soft Start Module Blue (common) and white from motor both connected to switch terminal where just the white motor wire used to be connected. I used spade connectors for all connections.

Me gustó que trae ajuste de arranque, anteriormente tenía uno chino y no me gustaba el arranque tan lento, muy buena compra !

Very well made soft start module, nice thick cables. I particularly liked the external heat sink, and the adjustable pot which allowed for different levels of soft starting. Very easy to wire up also.

Installed on a Ridgid table saw and works awesome. So much quieter when saw is turned on. Does not scare the crap out of me anymore. Worth it and recommended. You will love it.

My saw does not come with a soft start and I some online material that says you can use this part to add it in. Happy to report that it works perfectly but it made a massive difference. The table saw previously would cause my garage lights to flick when i turned I turned it on as its a pretty aggressive 0-hero blast off mode start speed. After wiring this up at the switch its amazing. At the slowest setting its probably 1.5ish seconds to ramp up and when I turn the saw on the garage lights don't flick in the slightest.
