One Roller Coaster Read
I am not a Sanjay Dutt fan, nor do I hate him. I know him as the slightly aged actor, who often hams on screen, and has given a couple of decent movies in recent times. Whatever positive perceptions I have had for him, I will dislike Sanjay Dutt after reading this. That’s what I thought while ordering a copy of Sanjay Dutt: The Crazy Untold Story of Bollywood’s Bad Boy.I may have judged the book by its cover (or title). I couldn’t have been more wrong.Yasser Usmaan has crafted a seemingly transparent profile of an actor whose entire life, throughout his career, has been virtually dissected and let bare by various media reports. By piecing together a narrative based on interviews of film industry insiders, police staff, lawyers, archivists, etc. the book reads seamlessly with no personal tilt apparent. While reading the book, sometimes you’d fall in love with Sanjay Dutt’s innocent charm, then hate him for his errant ways, then like him for trying to mend himself, get angry at his foolish behavior and also pity him for the conditions he managed to get himself in. Eventually, you understand the phenomena of Sanjay Dutt, the original ‘Bhai’ of Hindi Film Industry, and what has kept him going even when he doesn’t figure anywhere in the top crop of stars. It is a true roller coaster ride indeed. The book is unputdownable, something which didn’t need an interval – like a good masala Bollywood film packing solid content.Dutt’s life really deserved this book, and definitely deserves that biopic too. This book has kicked my interest in knowing him more closely.I don’t know if I’m a fan yet, but I like him more now. Probably because I understand him better. The space is restricting me, but I shall write a much more detailed review somewhere on my blog. Meanwhile, go, buy this book!

AN EXCELLENT ACCOUNT OF SANJOY' LIFE
Writer has beautifully crafted the life history of SANJOY'S DUTTA bringing his father and mother's brief life history together . How sanjoy was novice at all his misdeeds that brought ignominy in his life and how reckless he was while deciding steps in his life journey were beautifully delineated in this book . I am very impressed with the responsibilities that SANJOY'S father performed to bring his son on track . The book is very good and eye opener also for those who want to live life recklessly.

Unbiased,Factual and an Entertaining read
This is an amazingly well written book on one of the most controversial, yet loved stars of India. Yasser Usman manages to capture the eventful life of Sanjay Dutt with great panache. The book is an entertaining read and manages to hold the reader's attention. What strikes me is the unbiased writing - It neither becomes a fan-boy account, nor is it a critique of actor's life and his choices. It puts things in a factual manner (which is hard to find these days!) and lets the readers frame their own opinion. Highly recommended!

Okay book . Dont expect too much .
the book is okay . It doesnt have anything new . All that is written in the book is known . And better to watch a movie sanju than reading book . I watched the movie first and then i read the book . I connected very easily . It was like i was again watching the movie . There are differnt chapters about his life that are not discussed in the movie . Like.. about his family and his career . Overall dont expect so much from this book . It is okay book .

The book which has all the ingredients of an Indian ...
The book which has all the ingredients of an Indian masala commercial hit film, but sadly this is a reality. The truth that makes you question the bandwagon that we as consumers are. The Indian actor who was celebrated in spite of so many flaws. The book makes you introspect the phenomenon of stardom. You feel the urge to make Sanjay read the book and maybe chose a different response to his doing.

Outstanding book. Magnum opus with a magical spell binding effect.
I am not a filmy person but I am impelled to say that this book is simply a master piece. Outstanding research and great indulgence by the author. It has an unprecedented magical spell binding and absorbs you completely. Once you start you can't move out of it. Fantastically written. All praises.

Honest
I love this book for its honesty. It didn't try to picture Sanjay, one of my favourite actors as someone that he isn't. I was brought to tears especially while reading about his mother.

Terrible - youtube has better videos of his interviews.
What was I thinking? This is the worst book I've ever read. The material is all from youtube interviews of Sanjay Dutt... and the writing makes those interviews only worse. I should have heeded the warnings I read on the web before buying this. All future prospective purchasers - please heed to my warning here.
