must buy if you have a teenage son/daughter
an amazing book that offers valuable insights in to how a teenagers mind works and why it works so. Very clear and concise explanations put forth in an interesting way. Easy to read, and re-read. I definitely would recommend this book.

Enlightening book on the teenage brain
Easy to read and helpful to understand the phases children's brains go through from puberty to adolescence. It's a book written for young people, and as such it doesn't contain strategies for parents to deal with some of the more difficult aspects of adolescence. That would be a different (although necessary) book!

TEENAGERS AGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book is absolutely fantastic. So far i am just over halfway through the book but it is so informative and very funny. If you have teenage children this book really tries to explain why they are SO DIFFICULT TO LIVE WITH SOMETIMES!.It explains how your once normal sweet little angels suddenly change into the Difficult, moody.awkward little bless-thems they now are!!! ha ha. We as adults of course never behaved like them when we were teenagers AHEM!And our parents have never even heared of TEENAGERS , to them they are lovely devoted grandchildren, ha ha, if only they lived with them !!Now theres a thought? All jokes aside being a parent is the BEST and most rewarding job in the world but also the hardest, there are no instructions with this job but so far this book is really helping me to try to understand their teenage years, because I find that even though my boys are now taller than I am , they are still very young and child like in their ways sometimes as they try to adapt to growing up to suit their new adult bodies. So I would RECOMEND this book for all the mums and dads and TEENAGE offspring to read. The good news is apparently they WILL grow out of this delightfull stage of development and turn back into ordinary people once more!!! HA HA !!!!! GOOD LUCK

Excellent helping tool for confused parents!
One of my GP colleagues who’s also working in an excellent youth service in East London recommended this book to me. Fascinating scientific facts about teenagers’ thoughts & behaviour, “storm & stress”, scenario based interesting explanations - really easy read. Highly recommended for parents who’re interested to know what’s actually happening in their teen’s brain.

Valuable read for any teenager or parent
Being once a teenager myself only a few years back, the title instantly caught my eye. It is an easy read and aimed at teenagers although I believe parents would take an enjoyment out of reading it too.The scientific research that has gone into this book is incredible and you don't need to come from a scientific background to understand it either, it is very accessible. It also has a case study at the end of each chapter. The book covers a range of topics; Emotions, Sleep, Risk-taking, Gender differences, Mental health issues and Brain development in older teens. It has useful hints and tips for dealing with different emotions during these hormonal times and also helpful tips for parents. This is a valuable read for any teenager and I would most definitely suggest that parents have a read too (you may not remember being a teenager as much as you think you do! ha)

Buy it !
As a school social worker I have used this book many times and have given copies to parents & students. I have recently bought this as I now have my own teenager & I needed to remind myself of what life is like for them and whats happening in their teenage brain ! This book is easy to read & is really quite funny in parts and helped me to remember that my child won't always be teenager and this too shall pass! The book gives the reasons behind sleeping late , untidy bedrooms as well as more concerning stuff like risk taking and being impulsive . It's a great read and has been and still is really helpful.
