Shimano SLX Baitcasting Reels

Just put it on my fishing rod and its phenomenal. Really smooth reel for the awesome price. It casts awesome and easy to adjust and use the break system. Will review again when I land a fish.

I have owned many baitcaster reels. What I have found is that the more you pay, the more you get. That statement doesn't work for all products. I can cast this thing a mile, same as my Shimano Metanium DC. It's incredible, and for the price it's definitely worth it. Probably should be $250. The low profile is great, if you're hiking around and just nice. The noticeable difference between this and my Antares ($500) or Metanium ($500) is the crank is slightly chunkier, and less smooth. I mean, it's a small difference. Compared to a $70 silver max (very nice), or a $140 Lews combo (great) it absolutely blows it away. And I love my Lews. It's 20% better than a Daiwa Fuego FGCT100. Honestly would easily play $250 for this. Shimano is just unbeatable quality. Smooth reel, a pleasure to fish with. Fits well in your hand and has no problem handling a black bass.

Cool reel love the feel cast is smooth only backlashes one time an it was my fault bad thing is do not like how you adjust the brakes

Phenomenal reels. I've purchased 3 now (and a few of the DC models). All 3 of mine have been VERY slow out of the box. Do yourself a favor and apply some lube to both ends of the spool before you even wind line onto it. They'll "break in" over time, but if you don't lube it before your first use, your first 2-3 fishing trips will be spent making 15 yard casts all day. Once you get them up to speed though, these are extremely high performing reels for the price point. Admittedly I ONLY have Shimano reels so I can't compare this to a $100 offering from a competitor, but I'm so impressed with them that they are literally the only reels I'll buy (except for an occasional Curado when I really wanna treat myself.) Performance wise matches my Curados, Curados just look and feel like a better product to justify the price tag, but in terms of actual fishing capabilities, you can't really beat the SLX.

If you can spend a little more I would recommend to get the SLX DC, or the slx XT. Having the external tuning makes a big difference. At the time I got the slx it was priced at $80 so that was a really good price. I have a Curado I, with the external tuning and that is so much easier to adjust than having to open the frame to adjust. The reel is smooth, and the drag is okay. You may also look to see if you can get a deal on a combo with the rod and reel. I've seen some listed slx rod and slx reel for just a bit more money. No where near if you bought it separately.

Sehr geile Rolle für wenig Geld läuft 1a hatte nach bisher 3wöchiger Nutzung nicht eine Perücke, diese Rolle kann ich nur empfehlen damit kann man gar nichts falsch machen, würde ich immer wieder kaufen

Great out of the box. But after a couple casts I needed to adjust the break and when I went to close and lock it I split my thumb open trying to lock it. Very disappointing and painful. I’m a beginner and researched this reel and most were positive. Debating whether to try another.
