This part is a little tricky to put in, but PLEASE read what I've learned from this experience: 1. DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE KNOB FROM THE ROD on this new part. You're going to have a bad time, and if you're like me, it'll make you feel like a wimp. This part seems like it's built a little differently. To put this part on without removing the knob, read my instructions below. 2. When you remove the old rod from the base, place the base back into it's spot and screw it back together. THEN, put the dashboard bezel back on. That's right, and NOW, push the new knob AND rod THROUGH the bezel and INTO the hole for the base. Jiggle it around a little while you push in. You should hear and feel a click. The new knob AND rod should be locked into place now. 3. This is verified working on a 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra. Now, I've seen the OEM part on other websites for double what it is here. BEFORE you purchase this, remove your old rod from the base. If the rod is silver, then this part WILL fit. If it is black, you might have some filament issues, but should still fit with a little grunt.

The knob and rod stay together so once installed, you have to hacksaw the rod and take the knob off to get the console off.
