Steinberg UR12 - USB Audio Interface with XLR-XLR Cable & Pop Filter Bundle

So Cubase itself is free with the purchase, but it takes up about 50GBs and it is definitely NOT beginner friendly. If you want a powerful DAW I would say Cubase has a lot to offer for music junkies. If you're doing voice overs like me, it's not gonna be something you probably will be able to use without a few tutorials. I uninstalled it. I'm familiar with Fruity Loops and various animation and video editing programs and this seemed like a different universe to me. The UR-12 works great tho! Plug n play on windows! Just download the drivers and firmware before you plug it in. If you do,then just unplug and reinstall! The lights can keep me up at night but I just flip the power switch off on the back. Overall really simple to use and works great with my cheap chinese microphone.

It is amazing what you can do with this little audio interface and a decent microphone on garage band or other recording software. Sturdy construction. Easy to use. Great sound quality.

I upgraded from my Tonor pre-amp.phantom power (which I still use for my podcasting setup) to the UR12 and couldn't be happier. I know this won't be the last pre-amp that I purchase as my voice over career progresses, but the increase in quality sound I'm capturing for the price I paid for the unit is a great value ratio. Easy to set up and use.

I have wanted to be able to record guitar and vocals at the same time on separate tracks (home musician using Garage Band) for a long time but didn't have the equipment. Steinberg U12 solved this out of the box and I got going straight away. Have recorded everything I wanted to record for the last 20 years. Yes, I am slow, but now that I have discovered this I love it.

This is a great little interface. I’m not very experienced and recording myself, although I’ve been recording for 30+ years with other people. This took me about an hour to learn everything and I started recording immediately.
