Customer service is not dead.
I hate doing reviews and almost never do but today I make an exception. The unit works great and does exactly what it is advertised to do. I had no problem setting it up and should be no problem if you carefully read the directions and follow them. If however you are technologically challenged do not despair. Almost as soon as I placed my order, I got an email regarding my purchase and noting that if I had any trouble to go on line to a site that will take you through the setup. They also noted that you could also call them with questions. Well you know how those kind of calls can go trying to understand English as a second language but it was a nice gesture. A week later after I got the unit, I received another email asking if everything was going OK and did I have any questions. Once again, the follow up on a quite inexpensive item was unusual but nice. Finally, a couple of days ago, I got a call from them asking if I liked the unit and if I was having any difficulties with it. The speaker was a native English speaker and I was so knocked over that I just had to write this review. The Pedometer is accurate ( if you follow their directions in setting it up) and easy to read and use. For a reasonably low price compared to so many units out there, this unit is a keeper. Don't be afraid of setting it up, the company will not let you fail. Can't get much better than that.

Only after a few steps...
Revised and updated:Original review for three stars: This worked until we ran it through the washing machine ;) but that isn't what the rating is based on, do note it isn't water proof. The thing only starts to count after the first 5 or ten steps, so for a mom who is trying to increase her activity it was a little sad not getting credit for any of those around the house steps, just when you head from one end of the house to the other or go for a walk.Update: I was contacted by the company because I wasn't satisfied with their product. They graciously tried to accommodate my needs and I realized in their effort to bend over backwards to make me happy that really my review of three stars wasn't fair, it was my ignorance. The not counting until you get moving is apparently industry standard and not a defect. Note: "the 15 Step Error Prevention Feature prevents random non-walking movements from being falsely recorded as steps. Pedometers without Error Prevention have a high risk of presenting false records". I guess that for accuracy-athletes and those concerned with exact steps-would want this type. Accurate for walks, runs, hiking and continuous activity. I need a less technologically advanced type even if I get a less accurate read. So if you're sitting in the office or only get a few steps at a time and you need encouragement to take or make any little step then this isn't your pedometer. If you will be exercising, walking distance, hiking, jogging etc...THIS is the PEDOMETER FOR YOU :) it's easy to use, small, pretty compact, easy to see, and the color helps to not lose it if it falls off in the grass, ...and as I said earlier, it worked great till I put it through the washer :) I'd happily recommend to someone for the above recommended activities, not for mummy's around the house etc...happy walking.

stopped working after less than 2 weeks
I had originally given this 4 stars because it suited my needs by not requiring a separate app or phone to use it, I can easily read the numbers and it was fairly easy to set up. Took a minute to realize that it was in standby mode, but easy to fix. The directions are easy to read (much better than a thin piece of paper with print that is really hard to read) and fairly easy to set up. It did take me a few minutes to figure out how to set it up but not too hard and there is a website for support, FAQ's, as well as one for how to set up and operate the unit and a bonus ebook that you can download as well.HOWEVER, after not quite 2 weeks it has stopped working and is not recording any activity at all. The display is still working, but the unit simply stopped recording any activity for the past 2 days. Fortunately, I still have time to return this product. The one I purchased that cost less is still working.

Good Overall, Does The Job
YAY: It's pretty good at it's job, keeping track of your steps. It doesn't count little shifts which is a plus in my book. It's easy to set up and I really liked the 7-day record feature. It's a good price for the idea of a pedometer. I wanted something cheap-ish and simple. The miles per hour, how long (time-wise) you have walked was something that would be really helpful for those who were more active than I (at least, for now! ;P).NAY: I might be a little biased with the negatives, but with the amount of leaning over and squatting I do at my job, I have to make sure that the pedometer is still clipped on alright. It has reset 3 times from the same reason over the month I have worn it. A bit annoying, but it's still worth the money. It could just be my weirdly-shaped body.

Decent pedometer
This pedometer was a little complicated to activate; you definitely had to watch the accompanying video. But once you got it started, it did a pretty good job. The only catch is that it is not very durable. I accidentally dropped it as I took it off my waistband and it stopped working. I had to play with it a few times to get it back operational. I had to reset it several times before it "took". After that, I have not had any problems with it. I like the fact that it tracks your steps per day, keeping the day's total separated. All in all, not a bad buy for the price.
