Great home/office addition, good for posture problems!
Looks and feels great, complements the unibody aluminium MacBooks very well. The cable management hole is actually a useful functional element. Even in the first two days of use I could tell my posture was improving and the long late-night writing sessions weren't causing their usual neck/shoulder pain. Highly recommended. If anyone is wondering about my setup, I'm using this with a Gen-1 Apple trackpad, Steelseries Ikari optical mouse and Apple wired keyboard w/ numpad (because I play online shooters and the lag on the bluetooth keyboard sucks). When I'm not working or gaming, I use the MacBook to drive an HDTV for Netflix and such.I've taken away one star for a slight wobble in the base, but it's honestly nothing worth losing sleep over, because you're not moving the laptop or stand around during use anyway.

Sturdy
Well build, solid for typing, keeps the screen at eye level. My posture has improved some. Good cord holder and well placed thumb notch. Material itself is low grade aluminum, doesnt look that great (also has ugly branding). But good functionality-wise.

Great stand, timeless design and stands up to the test of time!
I bought this stand back in 2010 and came across it when looking through my old Amazon orders.7 years on and I am still using my stand on a daily basis. As a solid piece of metal, it performs well and is a sturdy stand for laptops. I am using it with my 15" 'late 2008' Macbook Pro (I'm trying to keep my Macbook alive for 10 years :-) ) but have also use it with a newer 15" Macbook Pro bought in 2016. It works fine with either. All of the rubber feet and stoppers are still intact and whilst a little discoloured, still perform as they should. The little gap underneath the stand is ideal for hiding desk clutter and the hole in the back allows for better cable management (and stops my charger cable from disappearing behind my desk when unplugged). It raises the laptop to a nice height (I have had other stands which barely seem to make a difference but this stand will raise my monitor to eye level).Overall, this is a great product and it's even better value for money than when I bought it 7 years ago.Highly recommended for those who want a simple, effective and neat looking laptop stand!

Excellent product and decent value for money
The stand comes well packaged and is an impressive item of kit. It's solid and appears to be one single sheet. There are rubber feet (protecting your desk) and rubber pads where the Macbook sits. In addition the lip at the front of the stand, preventing your laptop sliding off, also has a rubber cover to prevent scratches. A nice touch is the gap in the lip which allows you to open the laptop lid. Good thinking. The hole at the back is well sized and positioned. The stand lifts the laptop to a decent height and makes the screen much more comfortable to view.I use with a wireless keyboard and track pad which makes for a comfortable all-day set up.The stand doesn't rock and the laptop feels very secure. The price initially made me think hard before purchasing however I am impressed with the quality - it's decent value.Very pleased with this purchase.

Great
When I developed pain in my neck and lower back from years of sloppy posture, I knew I had to take it seriously. I looked for something to raise my laptop to eye level which wasn't fiddly or plasticity, and after a lot of looking, and trying a cheap riser, I decided to take a deep breath and go for this. Yes - it is pricey for a bit of aluminium but it will last forever, there's no messing around with trying to raise or lower it and best of all - it works. I'm using it right now and in fact can't use a laptop in the old way again. I did try a separate keyboard but as I'm not a touch typist, it rather defeated the object as I was looking down at the keys. I do fine with using the keyboard on the laptop.Yes, you may find cheaper but what's the point of having a tenner in your pocket and a stiff neck?

Brilliant!
I cannot explain how much I love this stand! I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 years but have always found that I can never sit down in front of it for very long before I get a sore back and neck and am very fidgety. Hence I've never been able to to do any proper work that I had planned when I first bought it.2 weeks ago I got my first real working-from-home freelance job (I'm a graphic designer) and for the first day I still had the same problem and didn't manage to get any work done. Previously I had always put this down to my procrastinating and low attention span but this time it just clicked that the reason I couldn't sit still was because I was so uncomfortable. I finally decided I need to invest in a proper work setup! At first I really hesitated to spend this much but now know it was absolutely worth it and am so so happy that I did. Everything about it is perfect and faultless and it matches really well with my MacBook Pro. I also bought an Apple wireless keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse the same day and the first time I sat down to work I had an incredible 8hours of full productive work (also thanks to my pomodoro timer!). Needless to say I'm extremely happy with my purchase and know it's already made a big return on my income. Thank you!

Well tailored for Macbook Pro..
1- It is sturdy on the desk, VERY sturdy.2- Comfortable enough to type on my MBP without using the external keyboard for a short use i.e yahoo messenger. But for long typing, i do suggest to get a keyboard. Im doing this review without external keyboard. Still waiting for the wired Apple keyboard from Amazon.I was a bit sceptic at first to spend such amount of money for it, but I must say it is worth the price tag and i dont regret on this purchase.I have uploaded one picture there. Hope it helps.Owh yes, Amazon.co.uk do stock this item but it is normally gone quite fast. U need to check it regularly. Last week i saw 5 in stock, i got mine on that batch and the rest were gone in 3-5 days. Last night they have one, but when i check it this morning, it is gone now. So u need to be quick if your thinking to get this item from Amazon.co.uk themself. Otherwise you could also check www.amazon.de too. Good luck..!Update 23/7/2010I agree with other reviewers after using this for bout a month, this is a must have item for all Macbook Pro users.

Slightly expensive, but very functional and it looks amazing with the MBP...
As many previous reviewers have stated, this may seem like a lot of cash to part with for what is essentially a piece of metal with a couple of folds in it, but as with all great art, the devil is in the details, and this product is devilishly good! The stand looks great, both empty and (more importantly) with a laptop in it. My MBP looks so much better with perched on this in comparison with the cheap plastic stand that I used previously. The stand also raises the display to a perfect level when used with a 24" TFT.The rubber feet and sturdy design mean that there is no worry about the laptop slipping (as has happened with a previous plastic stand), and you can safely type away on a mounted laptop (although I would recommend getting an external keyboard if you are intending to type for long periods)In summary, this is an excellent product that is well worth the money. The manufacturers have struck the perfect balance between function and style, and if you're an Apple fan then you are going to love this.

Helpful If You're a Musician
This is perfect for my music recording set up at home. If you have a digital piano or MIDI keyboard on your desk, then leaning over it to use your laptop is a bit of a pain. This sorts out the problem completely. This stand is very well built and heavy enough to not easily be knocked. There are soft pads on the shelf to prevent your laptop being marked. At the back there is a small hole which acts as a cable management system. It's not very big, but enough for a power cable and some USB cables.Underneath the shelf there is enough space to put an external hard drive or a small audio interface if that's your thing. It's not cheap, but if you've bought yourself an expensive MacBook Pro it only makes sense to put it on a stand of equal quality.

Just buy one!
Like many people, I use my MacBook Pro at a desk for most of the day but also need the portability for meetings. I have been aware for some time that my posture when working at the desk is appalling so started to look for possible ways to improve it. Having bought the Rain Design mStand, I would say this to anybody who uses a MacBook Pro on a daily basis - just buy one! It is absolutely perfect for the job. I have also 'invested' in an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Trackpad (both bluetooth) and my 'workstation ergonomics' have dramatically improved. I can highly recommend this combination. The mStand itself is constructed from a lump of aluminium so is very stable and is completely in keeping with Apple's design - it has rubber pads in all the right places to protect your Mac and looks/feels like a quality item. It comes extremely well packaged - a box within a box within yet another box (along with a large pile of scrunched up brown paper!) so you certainly don't feel you've been short-changed on the packaging!!! Delivery was quick via DPD - one of the better carriers who actually give you a 1 hour delivery 'window' so you don't have to hang around all day waiting...

Great Stand
This thing is amazing. It's sturdy and well designed. Honestly you could not go wrong with this product. It really helps with the back problem I have.Only thing I might add is that you might need to get an external keyboard and mouse for your computer should you place it on the stand because it becomes a bit tedious typing at that angle but is still very possible. In addition to that, because of the weight and thickness of the stand (aluminium, same material used to design the MacBook Pro), you can literally knock someone out with this. All in all, amazing product! One very happy customer.

Rain Design mStand
All of Rain Design's products are very stylish and well designed. The mStand is no exception. It is made from a solid piece of aluminium and is very sturdy. Small rubber pads protect your laptop and work surface, and create a convenient gap to pass cables through the holes in the stand. The overall look of the stand compliments a MacBook Pro and Mac accessories very nicely.MacBook Pros of a certain age are prone to get very hot under heavy CPU usage. Since Aluminium is a very good conductor of heat, this helps keep keep the operating temperature down.I bought this stand after suffering from a back problem, brought about by but bad posture while sitting at my laptop. I combined it with a new aluminium wireless keyboard and wireless mouse and now have a setup that is much more comfortable and ergonomic when using it at home. The space below the laptop is useful for placing a hard drive or other peripherals, freeing up desk space.I use a 15" MacBook Pro, although I'm sure a 13 or 17" would fit perfectly.I have been using this for a few months now, and I can't fault it in terms of functionality and style. Highly recommended.

Cool looking, matches the Apple silver look, strong but a bit springy
A really cool looking laptop stand that perfectly matches the Apple silver metal design. The color is virtually identical to your Macbook and is super strong. The downside for me is that the laptop bounces up and down when using the keyboard. This is because the actual bit that juts out which the laptop rests on, is not completely solid i.e. it's springy. This wouldn't be an issue if you use a separate keyboard but is quite annoying when using the laptop keyboard. All that said, its overall looks make it a very nice purchase. The price seems reasonable enough considering it matches your expensive Apple laptop very well.

Good quality stand
This is a smart little stand that I purchased to keep my macbook from being pushed round the desk. As I use the macbook in clamshell mode most of the time I was after a way to "dock" it on my desk. The only docks available didn't suit my tastes so I found this.Does the job just fine and has a nice bit of weight behind it so it doesn't feel flimsy. It also matched the macbook well and doesn't look out of place on my desk!

a docker's best friend.
Love my macbook stand (which I actually use for Dell M3800). It liberates a good amount of "storage-ish" space on my desk but mainly puts the laptop at a much better angle for casual use. Not good if you're not using a separate keyboard though I would say.Probably the best thing about it is the awesome look it gives to your desk. Kinda space-station(ish) in its modernity. It's beautifully made too and the rubber feet on the bottom and on the laptop surface grip the machine very well. A very nice piece of kit.

Maybe slightly high, but solid as a rock
This stand is super solid and well-made. Viewing angle is just right. Perfectly matches the Thunderbolt screen or iMac stand design. Hole in the back allows you to pass various cables through, including a USB keyboard cable, for a very neat set up. If anything the screen is raised slightly too high but that is just a matter of personal preference...and of course it is no longer possible (or at least very hard) to spill coffee all over your Macbook. Space underneath allows you to store your external keyboard out of the way when not in use, or slot in your Macbook Air for a quick charge.

excellent for people with neck problems
4 stars only because I can't put my laptop even higher (but it's just due to my condition - bulging disk). 17-18 cm instead of 15 would be fantastic. Other than that it's perfect, stable, laptop doesn't slide down, stand doesn't move, you can rest your wrists on the laptop and type (or buy additional keyboard - I did). Has definitely improved my posture/health; less neck pain or no pain at all, depends on other factors in my life. Designed for Apple but I'm using the stand with Toshiba right now and having no problems. Oh, and as a translator I spend many hours in front of my computer. Highly recommend this product.
