2018 remaster from the original master tapes. Reissued with 2 rare BONUS tracks! Robust 1978 album includes "Brute Force & Ignorance". Review: One of my favorite albums from one of my favorite blues guitarists - Most Rory fans rank this as one of his lesser albums which I could never understand. I just love this one. I also love the back story: he recorded most of these songs previously and then literally at the last minute -- the album had been pressed and was just about to ship -- he demanded of his record company that they pull it and not release it. Which naturally drove them nuts. From a business perspective that was an insane thing to do but that was Rory, it was always about the music first last and always. He re-recorded the songs and this was the result. When I'm down and just want to get away from everything I put this on and crank it up. BTW, the original versions of the songs were posthumously released as the album Notes from San Francisco. Not a bad album either but this one is clearly better. I feel as if I should say more but really what else can I say this is IMO one of the greatest blues rock albums ever by one of the greatest blues rock guitarists ever. Technically there are better guitar players but no one had the feeling and emotion of the blues better than Rory. Why do the good always die young? Miss you dude. Review: Kicking album by Rory! - Rory Gallagher's 1978 album "Photo-Finish", is his 7th solo release and is bruising album from start to finish. This Irish guitarist should of been a star in the 70's, but something happened as disco took over. "Photo-Finish", was recorded in Germany at Dierks Studio (where The Scorpions made their most famous recordings). Every song clicks from the hard crunch of "Shin Kicker", to the slow burning blues of "Fuel to the Fire". Other great tunes here are, "Last of the Independents", the classic "Shadow Play", the 50's rock of "Cruise On Out", great bass by Gerry. Other highlights are, "Brute Force and Ignorance", "Cloak and Dagger", "Overnight Bag", the smoking "Early Warning" and the country feel of "Jukebox Annie", kind of a Band feel here. 1979 would bring us "Top Priority". 1978 band consisted of: Rory Gallagher guitar, vocals, harmonica and mandolin. Born March 2,1948 Died June 14, 1995. Gerry McAvoy bass Born December 19, 1951. Ted McKenna drums Born March 10, 1950.

As good as it gets
Rory put out so many OUTSTANDING CDs (Top Priority, Jinxed, Calling Card, etc.) it is hard to choose a favorite, but this one is every bit as good as the others I have mentioned. One of the most important traits in a musician is versatility and Rory demonstrates his from start to finish. If you are a Rory fan you MUST have this CD. If You have NEVER heard Rory YOU MUST HAVE THIS CD. If you are one of those people who only downloads one song then download "Fuel to the Fire" and then you will know why YOU MUST BUY THIS CD

Rory is King
Of all the Rory albums, of which you will not find a bad one, Photo Finish is probably the best one from start to finish. Songs like Shinkicker, Overnight Bag, and Fuel to the Fire are classics. He is a true genius of guitar and song writing. Rory is one of the few, if not the only, artists that I know of that I cannot point to bad record or a period that wasn't very good. You will not be disappointed with this album.

rory rules!
I had the pleasure of seeing Rory twice in concert in his prime! He is without a doubt one of the best live performers I have ever seen! The most energy the best guitar licks, but the best part was that he seemed like he was enjoying every minute of it and the audience surely did! photo finish is Rory at his best start to finish! Highly recommended!

One of the greatest rock and roll artist of all time.
Photo Finish is a great example of some of Rory Gallagher's finest work. The sweetest leads, over the fantastic rhythms surrounded by some of the greatest lyrics sung by the deeply sincere and real person Rory Gallagher was. We miss you Rory!!! RIP

L'avete mai ascoltato un disco insufficiente di Rory ? Io no. Ha suonato sempre le sue cose alla stessa (grande) maniera, non delude mai...se piace il genere , e' roba DOCG.

This is another GREAT CD from Rory Gallagher, it took a great deal of time to produce this one, almost twice the amount of time that it usually took Rory to cut his usual Discs. That is because he fired his Producer and started all over again from scratch. He swore that Producers were a waste of time and money, that he always ended up teaching them what he could do for himself and in his very talented case I am quite sure that was true, it isn't always that way. Photo-Finish is a real Coup de Gras for Rory as he managed to prove his ability as a producer and he also came up with a very HOT CD for the record company. So while it took all the extra time the end product was a huge success and hard for the company to fault him for. Again this is a 5 Star disc I have been taking extra time in putting the orders together these days and the result is a far higher success rate as far as the quality of CD's is concerned so far in this batch I have not come across a single weak piece. If you are into the Blues Photo-Finish is a Disc for you, it is easy to say that about Rory Gallagher, while some of his CD's are stronger than others most are acceptable, this one is very strong and worthy of your attention. I would have preferred a hard shell case for the packaging but hey this is the new way of doing things and I will need to get on board with this even if I think it a mistake. I will need to find some way to protect these paper jackets in some way but as of yet I have not seen anything on the market which will do the job....Spigomars
