My Hawaiian name is Kuana. I started out as a wild fruit growing in the waste places of Hawaii, but today, I'm also cultivated and used commercially. I'm very popular in the islands. I'm eaten fresh of the tree; prepared as a fruit juice; made into jams, jellies and sherbet; used in cakes, pies and frostings. What's more, I contain iron, calcium, phosphorous, and greatly exceed oranges in vitamin C content. I'm delicious, and my tree makes a beautiful ornamental. What more could anyone ask for?
