Bachmann Trains - Pacific Flyer Ready To Run Electric Train Set - HO Scale

We always had a train under our tree during the Christmas season when I was little and then the train got replaced by presents over night on Christmas eve for the next morning. I never started that tradition with my own children but decided I wanted to do it with my grandkids. This train was perfect! It reminded me of daddy's old HO train set and it worked wonderfully! It is small enough to not take up a lot of space but large enough to be noticed and played with under the tree. I can't wait to add some village pieces to it as the years go by.

I had purchased one of these for my brother who said his old roomate did something with his HO train and he really missed it. I liked this one so much, I returned one that was supposed to smoke from the Smoke Stack but didn't. This had one more car than that one, and it runs and looks great, providing a lot more, "Action" on my train platform. My brother likes his as well.

Reminds me of my childhood! So many memories of seeing trains under the tree! I bought this for my 34 year old son this Christmas. Nostalgia! I want him to have those memories to share! It was a last minute thought for something different to send him. I always send something he would not think to buy for himself! Now he will think of me every time he turns it on, and smile!

If you are looking for a good starter set, a child's first train, or you aren't a super serious collector, this is a pretty good investment. It's a simple train setup that features a classic steam train and some cars. It only goes in a circle. However, it comes with a controller and tracks. Quality wise, not amazing. It is pretty flimsy and cheap. You must be delicate when handling it. If you pull tracks apart without squeezing the clips on the bottom, they will break. Make sure you keep pets away. Your children must know how careful to be with this hobby. Overall, I would recommend if you are looking for a cheap but pretty good train. But this is more for people who want to get into the hobby. If you are looking for more toy-ish or a train to wrap around your Christmas Tree, this probably isn't the best for that.

Reminds me of the one I had as a kid. Got a cleaning car because I was cleaning track more then I’d like. This is for under the Christmas tree and they give you just enough circle track for that.

A throwback to my childhood! My first train set was almost identical to this one! Construction appears to be great, I like the detail they went to, and it performed without any issues. Track is easy to put together, and is a good size for a starter set. My son absolutely loves this set, and want's to get it out every weekend.

Train run extreamly smooth. The EZ track is great as it has an integral roadbed and can be used on any surface without mounting. I use mine on carpet and it stays together and stays where you put it. No need for any plywood board or mounting of tracks Engine is good quality. The engine and cars stay on track and runs smooth. This is much better than the old type HO track without the roadbed attached to track. The set only comes with 12 curved tracks to make a circle. Be sure to buy extra straight easy tracks to make this into a longer oval. Eight extra straight tracks makes a decent size oval.

This train set is very poorly made. I purchased it for my 6 year old son for Christmas who absolutely loves model trains. The reviews stated this would be a good first model train set for train enthusiasts. The first engine slowed and finally stopped after about 2 weeks. To Bachman's credit, we were able to return and exchange it for a new engine under the warranty. The new engine literally broke the same day it was received, you can see the attached photos of the damage. A very small and flimsy plastic piece connected to the piston rods snapped. I did not think we handled the items so roughly that they would break the way they did. More cheap plastic garbage, very disappointed.
