Wonderful Book for Many Ages and Ability Levels
This is a great book for many different kinds of kids. I read it with my preschool special education class and I got a really good response. I paired it with plastic arctic animals and people along with an ice block and water in a water table (For the iceberg itself), and the kids enjoyed listening, watching and then pairing up the animals and people. I could definitely see this being used for higher grades and typically developing kiddos too. They could read it themselves and have bigger discussion about the animals and what was happening. It even has a picture glossary in the back. Good information, good illustration, and a versatile book in terms of ability levels. It will become a part of my season rotations from here on out. Highly recommend it.

Nice book. One small problem
This is a cute book for children. The only thing I don’t like about it is that a native hunter with a harpoon is trying to kill some of the animals. This is not always the type of thing the children want to know about, and I bought it for three-year-old for one of his bedtime stories. Fortunately, Our fearless hunter stands on some ice which breaks causing him to fall down. He fails to hurt any of the animals, and he is not hurt himself. Even though the little boy who now owns this book is too young to read, he absolutely loves books. This kind of thing is really starting him out right. Also, here’s a picture of a model of a narwhal, an animal mentioned in the book.

Good book
This is a good book. Cute, kid likes it. Now bought it for someone else. It also gave us the chance to explain why there are no penguins in Arctic waters

I bought this for my great-nephew who is fascinated with Arctic animals. The verse is simple, using repetition and the pictures are delightful. It also raised lots of questions about the different animals depicted in the book.
