Almost a standard in countess schools and universities out there in the whole world, the authors of this book have made sure they not only teach their readers with lucid flow of languages and thoughts, but also they have provided countless suitable MATLAB experiments and exercises to make sure the readers are able to apply their acquired knowledge in practice.

Best book, but requires a deep read before you can understand it

This should NOT be the first book to read on Signal Processing. "Signals and Systems" by the same author Alan Oppenheim seems to be a bit gentle in explaining the concepts.

Il libro di Oppenheim e Schafer e' da prendere assolutamente, soprattutto al prezzo della edizione con copertina flessibile. E' pur vero che e' meno "friendly" del libro di Lyons, "Understanding Digital Signal Processing", ma lo complementa ed e' un ottimo testo di riferimento che non puo' mancare dalla biblioteca di coloro che sono seriamente interessati all'argomento DSP.Ultima nota: non e' vero, almeno per la copia che mi e' arrivata tramite Fedex (spedizione tracciabile dall'India per pochi euro in 2 gg!), che l'economicita' dell'edizione indiana comporti pagine con inchiostro sbiadito, come scrive un recensore in lingua inglese. E' vero che le pagine sono in carta leggera, ma leggibilissime e non e' un problema studiarci sopra per le lunghe ore purtroppo necessarie per "digerire" i corposi argomenti contenuti...

Although the seller tried to hide this information by covering it up with stickers and sharpie, this edition is the Indian edition and is technically not authorized for sale inside the US.In addition, this edition has different page numbers, labels, and table of contents than the US edition. This makes following along in class or looking up homework problems difficult.Instead of buying this edition, I would recommend buying a cheap PDF copy of the US edition; it would be more convenient.
