CONCISE HISTORY OF INDIAN LIT. IN ENGLISH (PB

The book, in form, is very fine with good paper quality, standard printing and stable binding.But when I came across the contents, my brain got the spark that it should have been entitled " An Anthology of Essays on Indian English Literature" rather " A Concise History of Indian Literature in English".Irrelevant title and hence deceptive to the reader.

If you have this one with M K Naik, you don't need anything else for studying the basics of Indian writings in English. This book discusses from the English writings of Raja Rammohan Ray to the modern recent times. Not only it focuses on the single authors including their biographical details, but also analyzes the genres.If you want to give a shot, go for this brilliant book of 517 pages.

Merits:1. The book covers many details elaborately, as reflected in its contents.2. It is updated.(I will update my review after reading the book completely)Demerits:1. The pages of the book are not of high quality.2. One can see the shades of the letters printed on the other side of the page.3. No hardcover edition available (cherry picking 🤣)

There is a small dent at the top of the book and the package overall was shabbily wrapped.other than that no major complaints. The book reads like a novel and is informative. It'll be a joy to read this.

This book is the finest history of Indian writings in English, without any second thought, go for it.

The best book for indian English literature I have ever found

This is not a history book instead a collection of articles by different authors on a few aspects of Indian English literature.

Completely satisfied. I got what I was looking for.
