Jumbo Print Easy Crosswords #9
While the book has the large print that makes it easy to read and work the puzzles, the puzzles are not "easy." I shouldn't have to look continually at the answers in order to play the crossword puzzles. I am not ignorant. I have a bachelor's degree with many years of work history and I was completely blown away. I bought the "easy" puzzles for my spouse who works crosswords every day and he told me that he was unable to do 1/3 of any of the puzzles and threw away the book. I'm not saying the books should be "dummy-downed," but if the manufacturer of the books state the puzzles are "easy," that's what they should be.

Poorly designed, but nice book cover and quality paper! :\
They were not kidding when they said "JUMBO PRINT"! Guess they use the egg-size grading system where "JUMBO" means MUCH LARGER than "Large." I feel like I am in first grade and should be using Crayolas to fill out these GIGANTIC puzzles.Aside from that (shock at how large they are), I think it's time that crossword puzzle publishers start using more common sense in designing these books. I bought this one because I thought it would have "large print" (not GIGANTIC!)--meaning larger than the tiny faint print so common in the cheaper books. I also bought it for the SPIRAL binding, but there was no need for a spiral binding on a book that prints clues on the left side and the puzzles on the right! It means you are constantly flipping back and forth for the current page, or else you are using the book flat, in which case, why do you need spiral binding? Totally illogical. The metal binding drives up the price of the book but offers ZERO benefit. As for the puzzles themselves, they are not all that "easy." What they are is "abbreviated"--meaning, not very many clues or answers in each puzzle. The book also does not specify if the answer is more than one word (which is helpful to know in figuring out the answer). The puzzles themselves ask for obscure as well as very "easy" answers. Examples: Easy: Composer Stravinsky. Trickier/obscure: Pen name of Charles Dickens.Another annoyance I've noticed in recent crossword books purchased: The arrangement of answers in back of book is seemingly haphazard instead of in numerical order. I can't figure out why they do that, but it means I have to keep the answer page open--because if I don't have the answer in 2 or 3 guesses, I check the answer page and correct things and move on.What is nice about the book: the beautiful cover, which is sturdy as well as pretty. And the quality paper. If my recommendations/criticisms were heeded, this book could sell for HALF the price. $12.95 is steep for what you get. Will probably not buy any more books by this publisher unless they attend to these issues/suggestions. :)

Pretty, but not easy.
Really easy to read, jumbo for sure. Pretty book that was spiral bound. Thick pages. My biggest objection is the crosswords itself. I do a lot of crosswords, and I definitely would not categorize these clues as easy. I don't claim to be a wordsmith but when I buy an easy crossword I expect to be able to complete more than a few answers. I gave up and gave it away. What a bummer!

Great book!!
I bought this for my husband who loves crossword puzzles but not the hard ones like New York Times, but not so easy there is no challenge. This book was perfect! Plus, it's spiral bound someasy to turn pages. One side has the clues, one side has the puzzle itself. Excellent purchase in every way. This is the only large print crossword book I've seen by the author, but if and when he comes out with more, I will definitely purchase it!!

Spiral Bound, Large Print, Easy - Nearly Perfect for Me
The only way I could be more pleased would be if these had Pat Zajak's Clues.Yeah, I am not an accomplished crossword puzzle fanatic. A fanatic, perhaps, but not very good at the puzzles.Still, I do like to try solving them when I'm not writing something. It's a pretty good way to work through writer's block.BOTTOM LINEFive stars out of five.

Preferred by my 91 year old friend!
I purchased this as a gift along with other large print puzzle books for my 91-year-old friend. She called to say this was her favorite of the bunch of books I had bought for her. She approved of the quality of production as well as the contents.

Awful unless you are American
The clues in this book are really geared towards American knowledge. Very hard to do if you're British! I am afraid I really didn't enjoy this book.

Very US-centric
Very disappointed: purchased as a gift for my father who enjoys word puzzles but struggles with small print. Although not clear from the product description this is a very US-centric product. Many of the clues don't easily translate for the international market and my father has given up on the book as he has found so many of the clues difficult to interpret.

Rubbish
The questions in this book are mainly American based. It’s rubbish and will be going in the bin.
