Bayou Classic -16-gal Standard Brew Kettle, 64 quart, Stainless Steel

Would be a five star, but it came with a big dent. Still works great, but I like to make my own dents.

Solid construction, great price, gallon markers. GOOD-GREAT as a mash tun or EXCELLENT as a brew kettle for larger batches. Held 120* water with 4* drop over 2-3 hr period (in my kitchen at ~77*). Wrap in a blanket or use a styrofoam box and i'm sure you'd get better results. Wash, star san, get er done.

Kettle works perfectly fine. It is the first kettle I purchased prior to brewing and if I knew then how far I'd go into this hobby I would have spent the extra money for a more advanced kettle with TC fittings. Subsequent to purchasing I added an additional valve for whirlpooling and a pickup tube. I'm using different bulkheads and washers as well as the ones that came with the kettle would cause the rubber o-ring to bulge when tightened too much. Definitely a serviceable option but personally I'd go with a more advanced for a bit extra $$.

I have owned and cooked with Bayou Classic products for a long time. I don't think this is a bad product, it just wasn't as thick as I wanted. I should have noticed the fine details and other reviews about it being a little thin before I jumped at the price. I opted to return it (hassle free) and purchase the tri-ply bottom version for a little more money.

I've brewed about 7 batches of beer using this and the BIAB method with good success. Never had any leaking issues or anything, and the thermometer seems to be pretty accurate. Works great if your goal is an all-grain 5 gal batch, would probably work okay for a 10gal extract recipe if you mind the hotbreak closely. I highly recommend wrapping the kettle with reflectix insulation during the mash after you flameout.

The only thing that I have against the pot is that I wish that the thermometer started around 30° instead of 60°.

This brew kettle is just what I needed. It is large and nicely made. The kettle is solid, and made of quality materials. My only complaint is that to get the last of the beer out of the bottom, it is hard to drain and I am working on an alternate filter, so it doesn't clog as easy as it currently does.

Thermometer is accurate. Directions on how to install the spigot and washers is a little hard to decipher.Large white washer inside, red ones outside. Make sure the washers are compressed and the threads don't bottom out against each fitting and you won't have leaks.
