Blackthorn's Botanical Magic: The Green Witch’s Guide to Essential Oils for Spellcraft, Ritual & Healing

This is an excellent source of information dealing with spell work using essential oils and the various carrier oils and the ways the carriers may affect the outcome. There is detailed information in the various formulas for exact amounts of both EOs and carriers.It's possible to buy hollow-tube dropper bottles, but I have used rubber bulb bottles for years without any deterioration of the bulb or the oils. The bulb type are cheaper and there's no reason to fear deterioration of the bulb as long as you're getting a well-tested brand.Blackthorn also emphasizes the necessity of personal energy infusion into your solutions as one of the most important features of your work. An EO without the infusion of your energy and desires is just a nice smelling substance---that may have medicinal value on its own, but will not work as a spell enhancer without being primed first with your energies!This book is a valuable resource for those wishing to use EOs in their work---and while you're at it, look into the medicinal value of EOs for many conditions. This doesn't mean to use them internally, except in certain cases, because many are not for internal use; but there is recent evidence of their diffused benefit in people Covid or otherwise-induced anosmia.Enjoy!

This is a super handy guide, I have had it for a week and it has greatly enriched my mental health and spiritual practice. I feel reinvigorated towards using essential oils in new ways, and less overwhelmed. The bulk of the book is an herbal on many common herbs and essential oils, very handy. I read this on Kindle which I recommend because of the search capability, she lists by herb not symptom or goal, so the search function is much more helpful guide finding what you need. Blackthorn's writing is never dull and she has an amazing way of making you feel better about what you alreay know and simultaneously teaching you so much without you realizing it. This is my second book I've read of hers after Sacred Smoke, another excellent read, and I will be reading everything she publishes.

I simply can not recommend this book enough. I had always been meaning to give this a read since I saw it at a local metaphysical shop, but finally did when I joined Amy Blackthorn's Facebook Group called "Amy Blackthorn’s Green Realm" where she was doing a read-through, answering questions and hosting discussions as we all went along. Personally, I would even say this would make a great book for anyone who uses essential oils, whether they practice magick or not. Well-written, easy to understand, and a fantastic reference, this guide has helped me so much in my practice so far, as both a newbie witch and a newbie essential oil fanatic! Additionally, Amy is such an amazing teacher and resource from all that I have come to know about her from this book, her facebook group, and the classes she has taught that I've attended that I also plan to read any other future books she puts out and I suggest you do too.

Very informative

The boy and I are super exited to discover many new things and learn more about botanical magic. My husband and I have a working knowledge of herbs and essential oils but I am not as confidant in the craft as he. I'm almost done with the book and realize that I know more than I give myself credit for. Amy's writing style is how she talks and while reading the book I heard her narration in my head. Just for that the book is utterly fantastic and I can't get enough.Section six- oils from a to z is such an easy reference from the novice to the expert. I Love the layout and I want to break out the highlighters and colored pens to add my notes and helpful hints for future reference.I cannot sing enough praises. Thank you for this and thank you for existing, Amy.

If you already are comfortable working with essential oils, this is a good reference to have on hand. There are MANY oils described and several recipes as well.However, if you are new to essential oils in magick, I highly recommend _Essential Oil Magic_ by Vervain Helsdottir. It gives very thorough information on how to work with essential oils, including a useful dilution chart. It's the perfect companion book to this one.

Insightful and easy to read

This book is way more than I thought it would be. I thought it would be like a dictionary - you look up the essential oil and get the definition. It is that but it's also got a few introductory chapters about oils and products and rituals to give you a nice and concise overview of a lot of things you might need to know as a novice. I also like the way you can reference different oils in alpha order but also look up your purpose and find the oil you need.The only thing I would recommend adding in the second edition is which chakras the oils relate to, I know it's not really wicca (so I can't dock a star for that) but it can't hurt to add and would have saved me some cross referencing. I now have an annotated copy ;)

This book is perfect for a beginner delving deep into the use of plants. I appreciate the attention to safety with the materials, including summary sheets for photoxicity and pregnancy. Gives a lot of great tips on adding working with plants to your practise, and how to start and move forward. If you cannot get the older books because they are out of print , you won't go wrong with this as a resource and reference.

Serio, didáctico, completo, ameno de leer y con muchas recetas y tips. La autora demuestra su profundo conocimiento sobre la materia y su gusto por compartirlo.

Bueno pero esperaba un poco más. Al menos por la descripción del libro buscaba más contendido, recetas, blends, etc. que al final una enciclopedia con propiedades curativas y mágicas de las plantas y de aceites que puedes encontrar en muchos otros libros.Para agregar a las colección esta bien.

Lovely reference book and I use it a lot, my only, very small, grumble would be that there aren't enough oils described, but that's just me. It explains how to blend oils well and gives good examples, I like that it gives magical correspondences too.
