First off, these are GREAT running boards when they are finally and properly installed. They tuck up nicely under the truck body, completely protected from damage. When deployed, they come out a bit further and lower than a fixed running board, which makes in/out even easier. The whole family loves that!Installation is long. 8 hours for me and I'm not an amateur. I installed them on a RAM 2018 Crew Cab. It takes a significant amount of time to install the brackets, drill the holes, mount the boards and run the wiring.Two issues I encountered - On my truck, RAM has different configurations for a crash bracket under the driver's floorboard. My particular setup required me to mount the motor at an angle described in the instructions. I was tired and frustrated but got it to work properly with some patience and trial. Fortunately, it doesn't matter how the motor is oriented to the board, as long as it is secured properly and the holes line up.The other issue is Dodge. I had lots of excess metal at the pinch weld, under the door frames. This required a fair amount of grinding for the boards to clear properly.The wiring isn't bad. The harness is well made and AMP does everything possible to make it smooth. I also installed the optional control rocker switch. I'm not convinced it was necessary, but I'm glad I did it with the original install.The quality of the components is top-notch. Sure, it's expensive but AMP has done their homework on these. That's why they sell so many of them.Just be wary of doing the installation yourself. Unless you have jackstands, solid hand tools, right angle drills, a rivet gun, wrenches and good wiring skills, you are better off having a dealer do the work.

Installed on a 2022 Ram 2500 4x4 quad-cab with standard 6'4 bed. Contrary to many of the other reviews, mine worked WITHOUT grinding the pinch welds, after making adjustments following the mounting instructions (see below). These work great, and are high quality. I threadlocked everything except motor screws, torqued to spec, and sprayed Yamashield (similar to T-9) on moving parts to help protect against Florida Keys corrosion. I'd estimate it took around 10 hours, including re-consulting the instructions and watching a couple YT videos. Installed without lifting the truck. I'd say the only negative is that the mounting instructions are a little vague in spots (especially about the almost final step of riveting in some likely unnecessary spacers on the front mounts) and could be better organized. Not romoving a star for this because I really like the steps, but for this price, I suggest AMP contracts out a good technical writer to develop a better manual.While the end caps initially rubbed the pinch welds when testing movement manually, the instructions say to loosen pinch weld screw, walk back and forth the steps (without bouncing), and re-tighten; this worked for me.

Great fit! Everything works and looks great. The instructions are vague and could use updated. Don't use the supplied connection for under the dash, their trash and will fail. Other than that they are easy to install and need little special tools. Definitely recommend!

AMP Research, PN 76239-01A, (2016-2017 Ram 1500/2500/3500. All Cabs) is how they advertise their top of the line Powerstep Running Boards. But the product clearly doesn’t fit “All Cabs”.I bought this set for my brand new 2018 Ram 2500 Mega Cab and they gave me fits to install them!I followed the written instructions exactly to the letter. Got all done, was all proud. Put power to them… And the retracted up under the truck and wedged behind the pinch welds. I worked for hours putting brackets and linkages on than taking them back off numerous times, I adjusted brackets and linkages to NO avail. The boards jammed up and got stuck under the truck every time to the point where I had to remove the motors and pried them out from under my brand new truck scratching up the AMP Research running boards. Decided to call customer service. I called and spoke with Brian Weaver. I explained my situation and he seemed to know exactly what happened. Brian said “they got stuck behind the pinch weld right???” I said Yep!!! He said with a snarky little attitude “I’ll send you an email that’ll explain what to do”… So I get this email with an eight step process to remedy the problem. I followed that set of instructions to the letter again. Well step # 8 said if all else fails take a hammer and bend the pinch weld seam over to make it fit. I tried but I would have had to bend that seam over 45 degrees and I didn’t want to go that far with the sledge hammer. Long story short I had to take a 4” angle grinder, remove ¼” + off the top of the pinch weld seam to get my new $1500 AMP Research’s running boards to operate on my $70,000 brand new truck. Needless to say I was PISSED!!!! For that amount of money the AMP Research product should have fit like a glove.If you are looking to buy a set of nice power retractable running boards LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! Don’t spend your money here especially of you own a late model Ram. You will be disappointed !!!!!PS… I took the AMP Research badges off the steps so they don’t get any free advertising from me. They better run flawlessly for a long time… If they so much as hiccup I’m going to unbolt them and throw them into the dumpster……. I’ll definitely let you know…….
