SketchUp 2014 For Dummies

Funny and Concise
Very well written, funny, and concise. I wish it were formatted in a slightly different manner, where the features of the program are presented in a straightforward style as opposed to how they are used in creating buildings. Also, more detail on how to use guides would have been helpful--a page and a half is not enough. There is very little on using the protractor tool. These are simply my own preferences, and not true drawbacks to the book. I did enjoy learning from Mr. Chopra's videos on associated website. All in all, a very good resource.

One of the best general instruction books on SketchUp
I have been using SketchUp for the last three weeks with this book, I believe everything I needed to know is in this book. I have also used YouTube videos, but for reference I am using this book. This book is more of a reference than a programmed course. I would suggest users start doing a project in SketchUp, I started with designing a workbench. Good luck and stick with it.

Best book on the subject
This book is always at my elbow as my trusted reference. Chopra clearly knows Sketchup inside out and yet can still write about it as he would write about an old love: with great humor, admiration, and excitement. The snob in me always feels a bit self conscious about toting around one of the "Dummies" titles (hard stuff made accessible for the easily challenged...), but this is probably the very best book on the subject, no contest.

A book for dummies
I was a dummy trying to use SketchUp by hit or miss. This book was a great help. Like all the Dummy books it's written in plain English with lots "how tos" and tips. I highly recommend it for beginners.

Great book and I'm really happy to have purchased it
Great book and I'm really happy to have purchased it. It is a wealth of know-how! I not only read to learn what's in it in the way of discovery, it is also a reference book. It is great to remember what was done then go back and review the steps of how it was done. I highly recommend this book. No better author on the subject matter.

An excellent guide for the beginner in SketchUp
This is an excellent book for the beginning SketchUp artist. Aidan Chopra does a good job introducing the basic tools used in this powerful modeling program and a study of this book will lay the groundwork for more advanced techniques in the use of SketchUp.

Helpful to get started
Good step-by-step book for learning the basics. I am using it for woodworking and I found a DVD that is directly discussing that application and is more useful. This book is a good primer but there is certainly a lot to learn.

SketchUp for Dummies fits my needs very well
This book answered many of my SketchUp questions. I use it as a reference after reading the first 3 chapters, it is well written and anticipates where a new user will have trouble.

Excellent Book
Excellent book. I've been wanting to learn how to use Sketch Up but had difficulty learning the program with just references on the internet. This book made it easy to learn. I have Sketch Up version 2015, but there was no book available. I found this book to still be valid.
