THE AIZOME GI IS INSPIRED BY THE JAPANESE INDIGO DYEING PROCESS WHICH USES THE FERMENTED LEAVES OF THE POLYGONUM TINCTORIUM PLANT TO CREATE A DEEP BLUE DYE. AIZOME DYED GARMENTS WERE USED BY THE SAMURAIS FOR ITS ANTISEPTIC PROPERTIES, HELPING HEALING WOUNDS AND REPELLING INSECTS. EVEN THOUGH THE BLUE COLOR IN OUR GI REFLECTS A DARK AIZOME SHADE, OUR GI IS NOT MADE WITH AIZOME DYEING. THIS IS A TRIBUTE TO AN OLD TRADITION, WHICH TODAY IS KEPT BY ONLY A COUPLE OF FAMILIES IN JAPAN.

Slim fit reinforced knee pads. Round elastic drawstring on pants. The fabric is pre-shrunk and will have minimal shrinkage. The side spikes are a common shibori pattern (Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in indigo).
Senso is a jiu jitsu brand based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2014 we've been supporting hundreds of BJJ athletes both local and nationwide. Our jiujitsu gis kimonos are tested and proven at the academies and tournaments on a daily basis and are IBJJF compliant.

Favorite Gi

This is my favorite gi! Great fit, sturdy and stylish. I got a lot of complements on it. The only minor thing I would change is the sleeves could be slightly longer. But overall, I'm always happy when this gi comes up in my rotation. For sizing, I got the A2W and am 5'9", 197 pounds.
