Great step-by-step instuctions - 6 years installed now and working flawlesly This is the one to buy
I replaced an older unit that even though it was supposed to sense charge level and go to a maintain, was always boiling the batteries out. This unit came with step-by-step instructions for replacing my unit as well as the DC distribution panel. The output is clean DC that modern electronics can use, even when powered by generator.This is absolutely the way to go. It cured all my electrical problems.Instructions were provided specifically for the unit I was replacing, and they were overall very good, although they did identify one of the wires as being a different color than it actually was. It was pretty easy to tell that based on the labels on the lugs of both the old and the new unit, but it was still a bit unnerving when I first powered it up. It is possible that Alpenlite used the wrong color wire when they made the Camper unit, but I would think RV manufactures would stick to standard color codes.I would say that anyone with a minimal amount of electrical wiring experience should have little trouble installing it, and if someone were to look through the instructions, and examine what they are replacing, and have doubts, it would not be a big job to have it professionally installed. From what I have read online, they have excellent technical support, but I did not use them for my installation.I wish I had done this years ago instead of waiting until my battery charging circuit failed and forced me to do something.One more super positive: This unit is American made.Updated March 2018. After 6 years, this unit continues to work flawlessly and... IT DOES NOT boil the batteries out. My RV batteries hold up several years, DC is clean and steady. This was the best and most cost effective upgrade I have ever made to an RV. I upgraded this review from 4 to 5 stars based on the 6 year proven reliability and durability. I just bought a 2010 Forest River Solera, and now I need to go see what was installed by the manufacturer. The PD more than paid for itself in my Alpenlite after I replaced the original unit when it left me in the boondocks with no way to charge the RV batteries.

Easy and direct replacement of faulty WFCO converter
I bought this because it is a direct replacement of the WFCO converter my RV had. WFCO's have a notorious problem with having difficulty going into "boost" mode (to deeply charge a battery) -- you get lights that dim/bright, etc. Dozens of reports on this problem -- modern WFCOs use a different converter now -- so many issues with the legacy ones.This has an adapter bracket - straight for install into the WFCO converter bay -- for holding the base down, and really simple instructions. Anyone with basic wiring experience, following the instructions {in straight english, not translated chinese -- it's a USA made product) -- is very easy - about 1/2 hour to 1 hr to do.And the "pendant" (to show you battery charge mode) for the more costly/advanced 92xx series is adaptable to work with this unit. Progressive Dynamics publishes those details on their website. Look up this unit and the instructions for modifying the "Progressive Dynamics PD 9200 Series Pendant" are there. It's easy.Even if you don't use the external Pendant -- you still get a LED on the circuit board that shows you the state of the battery charging mode.So glad I did this upgrade. Nice product. USA made. And bye-bye to my WFCO that was failing.My battery is now HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY -- and my 12v systems in my RV no longer cycling "bright/dim" or the furnace fan cycling in speed, or my water pump go randomly "fast/slow" -- all is great! Everything solid and strong!One more note -- the old WFCO required just regular "phillips" and "straight blade" screwdrivers to remove all the wires, etc.The Progressive Dynamics will need an "allen wrench" to tighten down the heavy-duty connections to the battery, and the converter.{And as others noted -- there are a few good YouTube videos on how to replace your converter -- it's worth watching, as it will give you confidence that this is very doable. No need to spend $300+ on a converter at your RV place, and then pay major $'s to put it in. If you can wire a light switch at home, bend wires a bit, and just be patient -- you too can do this. You just need to turn off the shore power to your rig, and unhook your battery -- then you are golden to install}

Great product but documentation/tech support could be improved
I had a PD9200 prior and loved it so this was the easy answer to upgrade my Parallax.Installation documentation was very straight forward, clear and concise. Had no issues. Got it all hooked up with 2 new batteries. As far as I'm concerned PD units will extend the life of you batteries and are well worth it if you dry camp at all.My issue with this unit was not the unit itself, but the documentation pertaining to the built in charge wizard. Both the documentation that came with the unit as well as the troubleshooting guide on their website.Part of it is fault of my own and I will own that. Nevertheless, I feel their documentation is both inconsistent and arguably incomplete. My only advice is if you feel the need to reach out to PD, do it verbally as emailing only made matters worse. Once I spoke with them on the phone they answered all my questions, confirmed all was well, and clarified issues that arose via email.Any tech questions went directly to PD, not Amazon tech support.

Works great
Instructions are good. Easy install. I bought for the charge wizard but in some of the paperwork it says the charge wizard is not for lithium.

Saved about $300 by installing myself
This product was exactly as advertised. I found it easy to install and anyone with a small amount of electrical knowledge would have no problem. The dealer charged me $60 to diagnose my charging issue. By buying and installing myself I save about $300.
