Another hilarious read from Jane Costello!
I am LOVING Jane Costello's older novels. Not only are the covers adorable, but the stories inside are lighthearted, funny, and charming. In this one readers will meet Lucy and Henry. These two have been best friends since they were kids and have lived together as adults. Neither ever expressed romantic feelings for one another though and have remained steadfast friends. But when Henry gets a makeover, feelings begin to stir within Lucy and she has to decide whether the love she's always wanted is right in front of her, or if it's just lusty feelings because of this new look!Readers, I highly recommend her books.

Jane Costello is a STAR
Jane Costello should be dubbed the Queen of Funny. Her books are all fun and quirky and wonderfully written. Her books read like a romantic comedy movie... You can just picture the stories unfolding in your mind as you would a movie scene. She's definitely an undiscovered gem for us Americans.American Chick-Lit is a lot of the times really overly dramatic and in my opinion a lot of times tries too hard. There are a few exceptions to the rule. For American Chick-Lit authors, I gravitate towards Mary Kay Andrews and Linda Francis Lee ( more Ex-Debutante than Emily & Enstein). Linda Francis Lee's Emily & Enstein is the perfect example of chick lit trying too hard. I love Linda Francis Lee, but that book was just so out of the norm for Linda Francis Lee and her usual chick lit fare.If you love romantic comedies like the movie Bridesmaids, Shopaholic you'll really enjoy Jane Costello's books. In My Single Friend, Lucy and her friends decide that it's time that their friend Henry has a makeover. Lucy and Henry have been friends for years and each haven't had the best of luck when it comes to love. So, when Project Henry commences Lucy is excited for her friend and the transformation they've accomplished. However, things start feeling awkward for Lucy and she starts finding that she's annoyed instead of happy. She starts really having to question herself and her feelings for Henry...This was a really fun book and had me hooked on every word. Jane Costello has an exceptional gift of bringing her characters to life and inserting genuine comedic moments and yet making her characters true to life and filled iwth wonderful imperfections. She is one of the top romance comedy writer's I've had the pleasure of reading. I really wish she would gain some popularity in the US and that we would see some fresh work from Ms. Costello! If you've never had the pleasure of reading a Jane Costello book, I urge you to do so. Once I had read one of her books, I set to buy them all!!

A Brilliantly, Humourous Read!
I came across Jane Costello whilst browsing Amazon 2 weeks ago, and I am already 2 of her eBooks down!As with the previous eBook, The Nearly-Weds, the characters are wonderfully hilarious, with a strong and witty main character(ess). With Jane's warm and personal storytelling, and unusual character-to-reader acknowledgement, she certainly makes for my new favorite author this Summer! Can't wait to download my next eBook by Jane.

What a fun and quick read this book was
What a fun and quick read this book was!Having read and loved more then few books by Jane Costello before, I kind of knew what to expect from this novel, and I am so glad to say I wasn’t disappointed. This book was everything I wanted and everything I needed at time.It follows a 28 years old Lucy who works in a PR agency and lives with her best friend Henry, whom she knows for 21 years.Henry is a perfect example of freak and geak.He has a massy, longish hair, wears weird clothes and acts even wierder when girls are around. One night, after watching some tv show, Henry agrees for Lucy and two of her best friends, Erin and Dominique, to give Henry a new look. They will do their best to transform the mate into a best looking version of himself.Boy, did they suceed! After his makover, Henry looks so attractive that girs realise they were blind to his hotness. The matter of fact is, Lucy finds out she maybe has some feelings for her best friend…This book was written in first person, in Lucy’s POV.She was an entertainig narrator: funny and smart, but still blind to some situations that were obvious to us as readers.Henry was a guy every girl could wish for and if that kind of man exsists in real life, please someone introduce me to him. He is a dream guy.Lucy’s friends were very likeable, and the situation at Lucy’s work, which was a side story in this novel, was intriguing to read about even though I kind of expected the revelation of the situation in the similar way as it was handled.I think this book is perfect for curing reading slumps and to make you forget the world around you for a few hours you would need to devour it.I would recommend it to every chick-lit reader and to lovers of Sophie Kinsella’s books.

A great summer giggle!
Jane Costello has a knack of being able to tell a story as if you were right next to her, giggling away with a shared bottle of prosecco under a parasol on a distant beach somewhere where nothing else matters! The joy is in the delivery and wit of each sentence and situation. The characters are fun and light-hearted and if that's the type of book you are looking for over summer then this is your winner! If you are looking for a deeply mood-churning, thought-provoking drama, then read something else rather than complaining about this! The blurb on the back sums it up perfectly. Read it while wearing a flower in your hair and slurping on a cocktail at your side that has a paper parasol sticking through the chunk of pineapple wedged into the ice and enjoy! Cheers!

Laugh out loud funny
I have read both of Jane Costello's previous books and enjoyed them - but this is in a different league. This isn't just chick-lit - it's a really good book in any genre. The two central characters somehow manage to be so lovable you're rooting for them from page one, despite their glaring flaws (Lucy is a compulsive liar obsessed with men and shoes, and Henry is an outright geek). The dialogue between Lucy, Henry and her friends flows so naturally it's like you're eavesdropping on their conversations, and Lucy's Liverpool family are beautifully described. Even if this isn't your normal sort of book, give it a go - anybody female is going to recognise at least a bit of themselves in it!

My single friend
My single friend is another great book by Jane Costello. The story follows Lucy and her unsuccessful love life and her best friend Henry who is also unlucky in love. With the help of Lucy's two friends Erin and Dominique they embark on "project Henry" where he is given a makeover, new clothes, hair and even help with flirting, but no one realises how successful this makeover will be...especially no Lucy.Costello's writing makes you feel like your right there with the characters and her witty comments will have you laughing out loud.A fantastic read that i would reccommend to anyone. Looking forward to her next book.

The Best Book from Jane Costello Yet
Having read and enjoyed Bridesmaids and The Nearlyweds, I really loved this book. I had to read it through in one go because it was so addictive (like Bridget Jones's Diary and several Jennifer Weiner books)A reverse of the girl geek story line, with Henry, the intellectual hiding a killer body underneath all that couderoy, being given a transformation in to one hot man. Lucy, his friend, and only his friend for the last few decades has a disastrous love life and feels she can not be herself with the men she meets. Eventually, she works it out... I could almost hear Vanessa Williams' Best for Last being blasted out. Set in Liverpool and the funky world of PR, this is a really fun read. Will do well on any beach trip!

Another great Jane Costello book
I love Jane Costello books, this one for me was a slow burner but I knew straight from the start I liked the characters of Lucy and Henry. While it is obvious early on how their story will end the journey becomes entertaining and has a few twists and turns along the way that I really enjoyed.

Brilliant!!!
Have read the last few books written by this author and they are laugh-out-loud reads. Bridesmaids was a funny read and an even funnier film and this book is no exception. She has a wonderful way of writing a book so that you feel part of it and one of the characters. I have read all her books now and can't wait for her to write another. Would recommend to anyone.

My single friend.
Everyone needs a friend like Henry, Lucy is his best friend who goes on a lot of funny and embarrassing dates trying to find Mr Right. But not until the geeky Henry has a make over does she realise he's the man she has been looking all her life, but with all of the new female attraction he's getting, is it too late for her.

I loved it!
"My Single Friend" is a great book. The characters seem so real and the story flowed really well. I found myself rushing to finish it and find out what happened in the end and then got annoyed I had finished and wouldn't be reading anymore about Lucy and Henry. I would definately recommend this.

Easy reading with laugh out loud moments
Lucy's disastrous love life has a good few cringy moments that you can imagine you'd hear In your girls nights out , it's laugh out loud & fun but be ready with a tissue at the end for a pretty cute love story
