From our house we don't have a great view of the road and driveway through any windows. This makes it hard to see when someone has arrived or what may have caused a noise outside. In the past we used an indoor foscam to solve this issue. The camera was under a roof but was outside. It lasted a year but then stopped working. We tried another foscam in that location but it only lasted 3 months. We knew it was a gamble using an indoor camera outside. That's when we decided to try this camera.So far so good. The setup was straight forward. We put the four screws in and attached power and en Ethernet cable (didn't try the wifi) and then found it on the router software. Created a static IP in the router and created an external port forward so that we can access it away from home. The web log in was similar to the foscam. I like that we can just log in and use it rather than paying some company every month. It worked great from home but while at work I could log in but not see the video. In the setting I found there were two more ports listed and after getting into the router and forwarding them as well, it worked great. Note: You only need to do this port forwarding stuff if you want to use it away from home.So far we are very happy with it. The top housing feels heavy duty and like it's some sort of metal. The unit looks good and seems like it will stand up to weather. The picture is very good and the optical zoom works well. The IR night vision lights are much brighter than our old camera. The software has lots of features for security but we haven't tried any of them yet.I'll update this review if it fails on us but so far so good!

The pic is very good. I have two of these installed.... they are 2 hundred miles away. When I'm on site I can log in with my computer... but can't find them when off site except with my phone. One of the cams won't pan all the way up.... have no idea why.... worked after I installed it.... the night vision is exceptional. The documentation is a little fuzzy on their site. They show many of their cams but for the model I have they have no docs for. Once I get back to the site and see why one cam won't pan up I may change to higher rating. They do really need to update the website for new model cams they sell.

Great camera. Good picture. Easy setup. Seems very good quality. Only dinging it one star due to the fact that you MUST set it up with an Ethernet cable. You can use the WiFi ONLY after setting it up with the cable so if you have only a WiFi hotspot and no Ethernet connection you can’t use it. The app is awesome though. Works with low upload bandwidth and doesn’t freeze up constantly like other apps. Very reliable app!!’

This S2A model camera was purchased to replace an older S1 Dericam model. This model has better night mode caapabilities and better quality all around. The S1 model is still an excellant PTZ camera, and will be installed in another location.Setup and installation was simple and easy. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if the mounting holes were the same layout as the previous model.The Dericam app on my android is great, but wish that the HiP2P Client software on my PC was capable of adding other brand cameras. Looking for third party software that would cross over different manufacturers, but haven't found one yet that has all of the features.Jon

This is the 3rd one i bought installation it is easy and the apps control it is easy.

So far this camera (S2 model) appears to be a vastly improved version over the S1 model. Great picture quality and the new design (without the circular globe around the camera) should solve previous problems with the S1 model loosing clarity over time due to fogging of the circular globe.

Great image, zoom is incredible. Will not allow special characters in wifi password (support, which responded within a day, tried to tell me why it is a GOOD thing that I would have to change my wifi password, hence lots of other decives' passwords) and the wired connection won't stay up for more than a few hours. I wanted to use it at a second home, so need solid networking.Shame, because the camera is pretty nice when it is actually connected.

The unit is fair to good....just wish there were more software apps to use with the Camera

The camera (S2A) seems to be super quality build but importantly Dericam customer service is second to none, I had one or two issues, due to me not the camera, at one stage I even lost it online and from China found it for me and reset it. I was concerned early on on having no cloud account with it but the 128Gb I fitted is with experience going to be more than adequate, camera is set to motion detect record and in a fortnight has used just under 1Gb, that's over three years capacity by my reckoning. On customer service alone buy this camera you won't be disappointed.

Es ist mittlerweile die 6. Kamera was ich zu Hause hatte, und die erste welche mit Abstand das hält was sie verspricht.Einfaches Setup, Zugriff per Web Interface perfekt, Implementierung in meine gekaufte Überwachungssoftware war überhaupt kein Problem, wlan Qualität ist der von anderen Herstellern gleichzusetzen. Sehr robust verarbeitet und wirkt im grossen und ganzen sehr wertig um den Preis. Ich kann die Kamera für Jene was nicht von einer Handy App abhängig sein wollen nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Va bene : ne ho acquistate quattr. Solamento una, dopo un temporale, lo wi fi ha smesso di funzionare. Dovrà richiedere la sostituzione. Immagini diurne bellissime. Immagini notturne in bianco e nero ma buone
