Makita XTR01T8J 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact Router Starter Kit (5.0Ah)

I dunno' if this is really the gold standard but I've used a bunch of trim routers and this is by far the best I've used. I'm talking cordless here. Compared to any corded trim router --there is no comparison! It's got all the power you need and that "anytime, anywhere, any job" versatility (without cords!) is absolutely priceless! This is one of those tools that you wonder why you waited so long after you finally got it... Just a note, the stock base is fine but I did get a larger/wider clear base that has made this tool even more useful and versatile. Yeah, I know, I could have just made a larger clear base but I was feeling lazy and it wasn't pricey. Lol

I own several great Makita tools but this is my absolute favorite. This little beast this is powerful for its size and does a fantastic job for any trim or dado routing. I still go to my 3-1/4 HP for deeper mortises or dados in hardwoods. Bit changes are fast and simple, is super light and fits great in the hand, battery life has never been an issue, i use a 5 amp hr battery and have never come close to draining it even after a full day of use. Hands down my favorite router ever, no regrets.

I have the 110v version and decided to jump into the 18v battery platform with this router. Has the same power and speed as its electric model. I used it to mortise 12 hinges on 4 doors and the recessed latch area with a 2.0ah battery. At the end of the day I still had 2 bars left on the battery. Was nice to set up and not step around cords while routing all day.

Great for outdoor routing tasks. Much quieter than my previous corded trim router, good for indoor work.Comes with 3/8 inch collet cone, which is handy since I have some 3/8 shank bits.On the downside, the base is fairly narrow. Have to hold the router carefully to avoid tipping.

Great little router! So nice to not have to worry about a cord getting in the way. Just pop the battery in and go. Very nice fit and finish.

Got this for my husband who loves it & and as so excited to work with this tool!

Love love this tool. I use it on almost every job (I’m a General Contractor and do all my own finish work). The turn on switch is a two step process which was annoying at first but grime used to is. The light is very helpful. The adjustment is kinda loose so when unlocked the base will literally fall off.My only beef (which isn’t really a fair one) is the small table. Have to use left thumb to hold onto projects to prevent rocking. Will likely make a plexy add on to give a larger seat.
