This is a sturdy and fantastic humane mouse or critter trap. You set the trap from the outside of the cage. Then drop some sunflower seeds through the top of the cage without having to put your hands inside no matter when used indoor or outdoor, or bait it with yougies and tomcat attractant to trap voles, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, rats, weasels and other similar size animals. Additional latch followed by gravity once triggering completely prevents captive animals from escaping from the door. It is also easy to set the target caught animal free just by re-setting the trap. All sets in seconds. 1. Traps voles, rats, squirrels and mice in human ways without injury. 2. Sets up in seconds & Bent the handle back to its upright position for the trap to function. 3. Captures a sized moving animal rapidly and effectively with the sensitive trigger. 4. Additional latch drops by gravity after triggered and locks outside of the door for no escape. 5. Long handle extended from the cage for convenient to carry with less contact. 6. Allows for releasing captured animals by re-setting the trap manually. 7. Light weight square construction. 8. It works!
Updating my last review and adding an extra star after catching a fully grown rat. I previously thought this trap may be a bit small and light weight for a rat. But it isn't, it works. Easy to set up, and caught my garden rat after 6 days (Peanut butter and walnut bait). The trigger switch is very fast giving the rat no chance to escape. I do however recommend wedging the trap between two bricks to prevent it from being thrown around after catching a rat. I did and it certainly needed it - trapped rats are lively, and very noisy when approached. The lack of a handle to carry the trap after catching a rat is the only reason I haven't given 5 stars. I ended up picking it up by the trigger pole with a pair of pliers. The rat still looked like it wanted to bite my hand! Wear gloves at all times. All in all thoroughly recommended.

Flimsy piece of junk
Trap arrived yesterday, I set it out today for the first time. Caught a sparrow. This tiny bird was in the trap for just a few minutes and was remarkably calm, but the trap still mechanism still managed to become so bent by this that it now doesn't reset and I'll have to have a look at it with some pliers to see if I can fix it, otherwise it will have to go back. Disappointed as had spent a long time reading reviews to find a trap that actually worked as I really want to relocate the rats visiting my garden from the derelict garden next door.

Worked well after a few tries
After a few goes, I it caught a young rat in this trap. At first the rats ignored it, then one found a way to get the bait out without triggering the trap. Finally caught one. Rat was well contained and uninjured. Chocolate and chocolate shreddies worked best as bait. Apparently rats that are relocated to a rural area don't have a great survival rate, so I put this one by a field of cereal crops and a river to give it the best chance of survival (with a little bit of commercial rat food left at the release site for good measure).

Easy to set up
this is a light easy to set humane trap. So far the numerous squirrels have avoided it but all birds trapped in it have been able to be released unharmed.

Works really well
Easy to use but you have to be persistent as the first rat that was caught was a youngster but its parents seem to have the knack of taking the bait without setting the trap off or even avoiding it but did manage to catch it in the end before being released some miles away

Does a great job
It came fully assembled, was really easy to use and kept the rat well contained until I'd driven a couple of miles away to release it.A little tip, as my rat managed to eat the first lot of bate without tripping the latch, is to put the bate as far back on the pressure plate as you can, so it has to step on it to get to the bate, then it works a treat. Also...peanut butter... the rat went nuts for it :)All in all, very happy with it.

Squirrel catcher
Caught a squirrel within half an hour.I should think it’s too small for a cat though.
