High-Yield Routines for Grades K-8

Works with high school students!
I went to a conference for a Math Teacher and they got me hooked on this little book. I know it says up to 8th grade and I'm a high school math teacher but many of my students struggle in math and these activities are engaging and easy to do. I found them helpful as easy brain teasers and to grab their attention after going over warm-ups, announcements, and homework questions. Activities range from comparing two numbers to memorizing a shape and replicating the shape after seeing it for only half a second. It was a pleasant surprise when students would use academic vocabulary such as numerator, denominators, and other middle school jargon. Some students might have forgotten about them and it was a good review. Not to mention collaboration and critical thinking was occurring at all times. Teachers tend to focus entirely on the content and forget students also need to develop the skills necessary to keep up with the content as it gets more complicated. This is what I aim to accomplish with these daily 5 minute activities. In addition, the content was low enough that everybody in the classroom managed to participate without any limitations. It was a wild success this year and I'm excited to continue working with them next year. This book is highly recommended to diversify your classroom and make it more accessible for students.

Fantastic Daily Math Warm-Ups!
This is a fantastic resource book with seven ideas to use as daily math warm-ups. Each idea is quick and easy to implement and is appropriate for any grade level. Students are challenged to think deeply as they participate in the activities. I love this book!
