Clever, well-designed product for sharpening hand tools
My comments are limited to using the stones to sharpen a pair of hand pruners. Normally, it would be a bit awkward to sharpen a curved blade all the way down to the pruner's axis with a conventional-sized whetstone. But these thin, card-sized stones made the job pretty easy. They were easy to hold & to fit into the constrained space. They also seem to be a high-quality stone, sharpening the blade surprisingly quickly. The packaging & form facter are well-thought out; having the three padded leather holders is a lot more useful than I'd expected -- these stones won't get tossed in a box in the garage and lost. Once you get past the type of stone material, people think of whetstones as interchangeable commodities, but this innovative product is clearly superior to other stones I looked at. I thought this was an intelligently designed and well-made set of stones and, at least as far as sharpening odd-shaped blades like those on a pruner, I'm very glad I spent the extra $ for this one.

Perfect budget sharpening system, good for travel.
I've used these for 6 years and just seen them on my list of purchased items. I'm not some sharpener expert. I just like a good edge on my knive and modern steels are to hard for natural stones. But "QUALITY" diamond stones are expensive. I took a chance on these hoping they would be handy for travel and good enough to maintain my knifes. They did not disappoint. I prefer D2 and M390 blades and use these to keep a working edge on my pocket knives. I actually took the plastic backs off, engraved the grit into the back of each plate and keep all 3 in one of the leather slip cases. They are wle up very little room in any bag and are easy to keep handy on the go. I have repaired and reprofiled some knifes and have used them for kitchen knives as well. I use the ken onion belt sharpener for most of my sharpening now. But I keep these with me whenever I'm traveling. They're perfect for that or if you want a chewo sharpening system and can learn to hold an angle while sharpening. Freehand sharpener is a good skill to maintain and these will sharpen anything.

This is the sharpening stone for in and out home!
Such high quality, full metal of 1.5mm thick stainless steel. Never bother with those 1" pocket sharpeners. So large and so easy to handle with the big O ring, I don't even need an 8" stone for home cooking knives. (Well, I still got a Sharpal 6", could not help myself for such a deal for such a quality stone.) So light, 2.2 oz each measured, I always carry these for outdoors.

Good but not for excessive usage
These work well and seem to be above average quality. I did return this item, however. I need a sharpening stone that I use frequently and after a few uses these started to dull down. If you need a sharpener for occasional use or require something very portable, these are good. If you need a sharpening stone to use frequently, I wouldn't recommend these.

Great portable or starter set!
I've had this set for a few years and used them to sharpen other people's knives, as well as my own. They work great as long as you know what you're doing. The grit is diamonds, so you dont need to push very hard to get good cutting action. I have had some stone delamination, but its negligible. The handles can be a little uncomfortable, but I found that putting my thumb through the hole and pulling the plates against a closed fist is the best way to use these. They may not be the most durable diamond plates, but are definitely worth the money. Super portable, all three fit easily in a pocket

Only One Negative, Otherwise Perfect.
Not everything I own can be done on a larger stone, or I'd need a huge stone to move across. The little ones make it a lot easier to just move the grinding surface over the blade rather than the blade over the surface. It works great for my hatchet, carving knife, and even curvier small knives. There's a small round pop out handle loop on the back that can give you more stability when using them. I never actually pop it out, just use it to nest my finger and it works fine that way. There's also a signaling mirror on the back. These guys also make my main sharpening stone. Their diamond stones have remarkable consistency for their price, allowing you to really get a fine edge. The only thing I don't like about it is that the plastic for that handle makes it too thick. This dramatically increases it's footprint, especially with the little leather sheaths they come with. I may try to remove them, but I think I'll need to stay aware of stacking them. They need something to protect the diamond surface, and protect against it from scratching other things.

I am reviewing them 2 years after buying them. They STILL work perfectly. I use the extra fine grit one every day on my edc and at least once a week on a variety of other blades, of which there are MANY. I have only used the rough 300 grit one a handful of times as it is only for the dullest of blades. The fine grit is also well used. The fact that 2 years later they are still doing a great job is a testament to a quality product. If you are not well versed at sharpening, this will not be for you. Being small, they are hard to get the right angle. But, if you are great at hand sharpening, these will change your life! I keep the 1200 grit in my wallet and made a strop that fits in next to it. Another quality product at an amazing price point.
