My favorite ABC book!!!
I've read most ABC books out there. I wish I could give this book 10 stars! I love that the big bold letter on each page is the lowercase letter, since that is what we see most often when learning to read. The uppercase letter is also shown in the upper corner of each page. This is the only book that I have seen in my 5 years of homeschooling that teaches the little ones all the sounds that each letter makes. Not only that, but it is done in such a bright, colorful, way! The first time we went through the book, my almost 4 year old thanked me several times for getting the book. He was having so much fun with it. He has been pulling it out every day, so we can read it together. My 5 year old is learning to read and it already cleared up some confusion for him, that he had for the letter S sound. When he learned S says /s/ and /z/, he had a huge grin on his face. He had several light bulb moments, going through the different sounds.I originally came across this book, looking at the Logic of English website. They have a phonics/writing/grammar program coming out in a few months for kids ages 4-6. We will definitely be using it! Right now, I'm waiting for my LOE essentials book to get here so we can go through it with my 8 year old, struggling with spelling. I cannot say enough how impressed I am with LOE materials. This book is such a great beginning to all their other materials.

Perfect Addition to the Logic of English Curriculum!
This book makes much more sense if you use Logic of English. The LOE curriculum is wonderful, and this book, while optional, helps to teach the phonogram sounds to all 3 of my children, even the ones who aren't quite ready to dive into phonics just yet.If you have a child who just doesn't quite "get" reading, I highly recommend the LOE curriculum. The activities keep my mover and shaker busy, the lessons aren't hard (lots of scaffolding so that she never feels like she's failing), and it's incredibly thorough, beginning with the basic alphabet and gradually moving towards a fourth grade reading level. While it is a bit pricey, the method is well worth it. And this book is the icing on the cake! I'll be ordering the next two, Whistling Whales and Knitying Knights, to go with the next levels, too!

A must have!
I purchased this book just to add to the curriculum I already have and we've already read it twice (I've had it in my hands all of 30 minutes), B just thinks its the best thing in the world that letters can have so many different sounds like he just figured out all the secrets to reading! He actually proclaimed to my 3 yr old 'Did you get it, u has 4 sounds isn't that neat! I so get it!'As a mom I love it because it's consolidated into one book so every letter you see you also get to say all the different sounds that it can make. Get it, add it to your collection. I wish I had it when my 5 year old was 3!***Update: We've had this book for awhile, we read it weekly. The kids always grab this book when they have the choice! Now that we are working on reading we are constantly referring to Doodling Dragons. I stand by the 5 stars!

Great book with the songs
We purchased this book to go along with the curriculum and the songs and my autistic boys love it. They learn very well through music and the book has been helpful to use with both. Highly recommend

A Must Have!
Came upon this book quite by accident. I work with students of all ages who struggle to learn. My specialty is reading. This is the best, bar none, book I have ever seen on introducing sounds in our English language. I just read it to one of my older students (12) and he loved it! My grandson is six and loves it as well. The pictures are large and colorful, but not too busy. Rhymes are creative and funny. I am really hoping this author comes out with a second book that introduces the blends and digraphs, etc in the same way. I would be the first in line to buy it.

The content is good. As advertised
The content is good. As advertised. The interior pages are of good quality. My only issue with the book is the exterior cover. It feels waxy and powdery at the same time. I don't know if it is due to the way it was packaged, because the cover feels slightly bumpy like it was perhaps rubbed up against something. The white of the cover is not a true white. It looks greyish, like maybe it got scratched by the cardboard box it was in direct contact with. Then again, it could be the publisher's issue. It didn't look "brand new" to me.

I hate any readers that are required as additional to a homeschool curriculum. Just include it in a set OR make it more reasonably priced for hard-working families. BUT I found it was easier to have it when suggested in the lesson plans than to not have it. Nonetheless, $15 (on Amazon and through the publisher's site) is crazy for a book of cartoon phonograms.
