Part of the routine maintenance for your Venta air washer and humidifier!
I am using an LW45 model of the Venta humidifier. Every day I have to add about 1 ½ to 2 gallons of tap water into the unit. You do need treat the water with the Venta Airwasher water treatment additive and it takes 3.5 ounces of this liquid to treat the 3 gallons of water that the unit holds. You only add the treatment every 10 to 14 days and then you should dump the water and then clean the unit, refill it with three gallons of fresh water and add in the water treatment. The unit comes with enough of the treatment liquid to last you about 4 weeks. I ordered this bottle to maintain the unit in top operating condition. It is 35 ounces so it is enough for 10 treatments or about 20 weeks. I just set my smart phone to trip an alarm for me to clean the unit, change the water and add in the required 3.5 ounces of the water treatment additive. I remove the water wheels and rinse them with fresh water. I wash out the humidifier tub. I clean the fan assembly. I refill the unit with 3 gallons of fresh tap water and then I add in this solution. It really is simple and easy. The cleaning fluid does the following things: * It helps to maintain a hygienic environment * It improves the evaporation process by making the water cling to the wheels drawing more water out of the reservoir to allow it to evaporate * It prevents calcium deposits * It prevents unpleasant orders The front bottle label has graduations on it for every 3.5 ounces that you need to use. This is a good product and it works well and I rated it at 5 stars. I like the humidifying unit and I like that this cleaning solution does a good job keeping it fresh and clean.

Makes it easy to clean my Venta, prevents caking minerals
This was recommended when I purchased my Venta, so I bought it. I try to clean out the humidifier once a month and this water additive makes it easy. I don't get mineralization on the surfaces, generally just have "flakes" of stuff in the bottom of the humidifier, and also some that I can rinse off the humidifier drum fairly easily. My other humidifiers always get a lot of calcification and buildup, but this keeps the Venta running really clean. It pretty much runs 24/7 and I can say it's the best humidifier I've every had as far as ease of use and effectiveness.

Works great, just follow the directions on the bottle
This stuff really works to keep the humidifier, (air washer) clean and not sticky. I have used it for a couple of months and the inside of the Venta air washer looks brand new. I do wipe the inside of the water container out when I change the water every couple of weeks.

Good product but slow delivery
Item performs well and as advertised. Only complaint is the "long" delivery time.

Worth the money
Would love to know what the ingredients are for this additive, as I tried other alternatives and nothing worked. I think this treatment is relatively cheap considering what the Venta unit costs and found that one capful if this treatment is enough for the largest unit. My bottle from last year is half full, so a bottle goes a long way obviously depending if you run this machine year round or just couple of months as in my case. I usually change the water after every use rather than add water to the tank because the leftover water looks like dirty diluted milk...Other homemade solutions I tried made with vinegar, lavender, baking soda didn't work as I thought why bother with this treatment with my 10 year old machine. My homemade concoction started growing nasty algae like stuff if I forgot to clean the machine or stopped using it and cleaning became a chore. After buying my second Venta unit with the treatment solution as part of the package, it made me think of all the time I spent scrubbing the nasty goo growing on my previous machine was pointless. With this additive everything evaporates leaving behind a salt that comes off with hot water and a scrub sponge. Not worth reinventing the wheel especially when this treatment in readily delivered to my door and I don't have to drive to BBB to get it.

Helps prevent and control calcium deposits
We have forced hot air heating which tends to dry out the air in the winter. Without Venta aiwasher I wake up with a sore throat due to dryness, with Venta airwasher my throat feels fine. I use tap water in the airwasher and we have hard water from a well. I use water treatment as it was recommended for the proper running of the humidifier to prevent formation of calcium deposits on the walls and in the turbines. I see sediment on the bottom of the tank and rinse it every 2 weeks. For cleaning of the tank I use Simple Green cleaner (one gallon concentrated solution is pretty economical). One thing I was not sure about before I got the big 35 oz bottle of the solution for the first time is how I was going to measure out the right amount of the solution for each application. Once I got the bottle I saw that the label has lines that show the amount to use each time. Each dose is 3.4 oz and should be added to water every 10 to 14 days. There are 11 doses according to the marking, which works out to about 6 months. If you humidify for less than 6 months a year the bottle can last more than one season. However the shelf life of the product is marked this way: storage life is 30 months if not opened, and 12 months after opening. I am not sure 12 months a real shelf like or is Venta trying to make an annual sale to each customer. Note that this water treatment is not a replacement for Venta Airwasher Cleaner (8.5 oz) which needs to be used once a year before I store the unit for the summer when we don't use it. Venta airwasher water treatment contains: water, quatemary ammonium chlorides and water softening agent. Ali Julia review

I don't know if I love it, but you really need it.
It's a bit expensive, and it may look like Venta's just trying to sell you a questionable extra, but don't try to run your Venta Airwasher without it. It acts as a wetting agent, among its other more subtle effects, to utilize the full area of the machine's rotating plates. Without it, water will only appear on the plates in droplets. The smaller area of exposed water surface will result in much lower evaporation efficiency and disappointing humidifier performance. That will contribute to scale accumulation on the plates and inside surface of the tank, as well, further reducing the machine's efficiency and leading eventually to a difficult cleaning process. I'm less certain about the need for Venta's cleaning solution, also expensive. I pretreat the water I put in the Venta to zero ppm dissolved solids (see my review of the ZeroWater ZP-010 10 Cup Pitcher), thereby eliminating scale accumulation. Apart from that, others have reported being able to clean their Airwashers with simple vinegar, which is a mild acid that dissolves scale. It may just be slower than the proprietary cleaning solution.

If you own a VENTA, you NEED to purchase this. It works ... and is very necessary!
If you own a VENTA, you need to also purchase this water treatment additive. It keeps the water from getting that musty/moldy smell and helps prevents hard water/calcium from building up in the tank and fan assembly during the 2 weeks between cleanings. The additive really works and is not just a gimmick. I've been using Venta Airwashers for almost 10 years now ... so I speak from experience. This is not a cleaner. It is merely an additive that allows you to add water to the unit (without emptying and cleaning) for 2 weeks. You will still need to clean the unit every 2 weeks. I've found that submerging the tank/base, wheel and top (after you've removed the fan/motor) in the bath tub is the easiest/best way to clean it. For a deep clean, I soak them in a bleach solution (as needed).
