Good foundational book with great takeaway ideas
This is really a good book for those who are just starting out. He talks about things, ;like tools and techniques, that other books take for granted. This book is worth the money because you will find yourself with many takeaways that really help you become competent at this craft. he also has some good ideas for tools and setup I haven't seen elsewhere. This book, combined with some youtube videos and you are good to go.

PERFECT Book for Beginners!
This book, as stated, does not offer “patterns” for felting. What it DOES offer is an in-depth, photo-filled text about needle felting, from the very basics (including tools and how to use them) to more advanced techniques. PERFECT book for the true novice in this craft.

Fantastic Needle Felting instructions!
Ok, so if you are looking for a "project book" this may not be it. However, if you are looking to learn about techniques about developing skill in the art of needle felting you've come to the right place. These books are amazing! I have learned more from this book regarding needle felting then the dozens and dozens of instruction sights, videos, books, etc. that I came across in my research. The instructions are very clear and the images are perfectly placed in regards to the instructions.I would recommend these books to anyone looking to learn how to needle felt.

The best book yet
I have a lot of needle felting books, this being the best one yet. She guides you through the shapes, then how to put them together. There is a couple of projects, they are fun and help one learn how the shapes work together. I loved how she teaches. Learning to make realistic fur was very neat. There are photos of tiny kittens she makes on some of the pages. Beautiful work! This is not a project book, it is a book on how to truly needle felt. How one puts together what they learn is up to them. I found it creative. I used to be a potter sculptor. I know how shapes went together... with stoneware clay. Using wool and a sharp needle, the concept of making and putting together shapes had to be altered to work with the medium and tools. This is a must-have book for me.

YOU NEED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!
I have never written a review on Amazon before, but this book deserves to have its praises sung from every mountaintop.I have all of the felting books out there - and I mean ALL of them - wet and needle felting both, written in English, German, Danish, Japanese, if it is currently available I have it. This book, by far, is the best and most useful of them all. Written in a very accessible and humorous manner, you feel like you are right there with the author taking a class. It is loaded with photos and answers all of your questions. Jeanne has done a marvelous job her, giving you both projects and process and seemingly reading your mind for any questions you may have.I cannot recommend this book highly enough. What are you waiting for? Buy it now!!By the way - check out her fabulous artwork here: [...]

Excellent guide
I'm new to needle felting. As with any new craft, it generally takes me a lot of experimentation to understand how it achieve the results I want. With this book as a guide I have been able to jump right in! I ordered both books together and love them both. Very useful with clear explanations and clear pictures.

Full of useful techniques
This book is quite deceptive, because it has hidden the best gems of needlefelting technique in a chatty and entertaining book about making some quirky and interesting figures. At first I was not going to purchase this particular book as the style of animals wasn't to my taste, but I'm very glad I did as it has been one of the most useful books I've purchased so far. I highly recommend this book, and will be buying his second volume too, in case there are more useful nuggets of felting wisdom that I've missed.

Absolutely Excellent
I bought this book shortly after starting the hobby. There are a lot of instructional books on the market, but this one is BY FAR the best. It takes an analytical, almost scientific approach and thus explains techniques in a really helpful manner. I have learned so much from reading this. The only problem is that the photographs are not of very good quality. Despite this, I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone starting the craft. Going to get the second one too.

Good book let down by very bad quality photos.
Some really useful information & techniques in this book & I have found it helpful but the quality of the photos is so very poor many of them are of no use at in illustrating the techniques or stages of a project which really lets the book down & makes it much less easy to follow than it should be.

Not worth the price
Very disappointed with this book. Read from cover to cover in 2 hours. It has a very thin card cover and feels as though it has been printed on copier paper. There are no glossy photos and the majority of the photos are very bad quality, they appear to have been taken in the home without the benefit of flash. The projects are very limited. There are cheaper and better quality books out there.

Excellent for a beginner
I needed a different slant on the things I have learned in the craft of needle felting, and it is nice to find a well illustrated book with information I previously didn't know. I would definitely recommend this to a beginner. Love it's clarity.
