Good
Good book, the author's need to look at the solar system as a whole and not just the observation post called Earth they will see it more connected than they thought even if it means planets are out of sync to create a balance of energy, frequency, and vibration. The constants for the entire universe are frequency, vibration and Energy, that is why things seem to make a pattern because the pattern is vibration, frequency and Energy. Materials created from dead and dying stars are consistent the difference is what density those materials form that create different frequencies, vibration and energy that interact as one in a giant orchestra which makes up the universe. One cannot look at one part without truly understanding its place within the balance of Energy, vibration, and frequency of the whole, and one has a direct effect on the other to maintain an equilibrium. As Tesla once said think clearly not deeply. The current paradigm that civilization started when it did will be stood on its head, the evidence is blatantly obvious in the form of cataclysmic events that we know as the flood myths. The series of impacts known has the younger dryas events are not theoretical but proven just with the amount of evidence found in the ground around the world and Greenland ice cores. Melt water pulses coincides within the same time frame of these impacts, and the water did not come from lake Missoula but directly from an impact on the Canadian ice sheet that created an unimaginable amount of liquid water very quickly. archeology and anthropology will continue to stagnate and die off because they refuse to adapt to a cataclysmic universe that is not a nice categorical existence in which their frail human minds wish to categorize everything into nice little niches to delude ourselves that we are relatively safe

Groundbreaking and Startling Facts predicated on Mathematical Proof
A fascinating read that points towards our mysterious origins...someone or something, in deep antiquity, engineered things from the single source of the "Megalithic Yard" which strangely underlies all of the constructions of our ancient megalithic structures and conforms incredibly with the metric system as well as English pounds and pints...an incredible coincidence that cannot be a coincidence, as it is beyond probability that is was by chance. What's really mind blowing is the ancients were able to devise the polar circumference from the megalithic math! If you really want to have your paradigm shifted, read about the math of the moon, sun and the earth and how all 3 are mathematically aligned in so many ways. The authors book "Who built the Moon" goes in to great detail on this and I highly recommend that book as well. The measurement systems also were used by the ancient Sumerians...the first known true and "sudden" Civilization with no real known predessors...and if you know of Zacariah Sitchens works, the cuneiform tablets of the Sumerians speak of the ET race the Anunnaki , as teaching them all science and civilization...perhaps the authors should look at the Anunnaki as a possible source of their "Civilization One".

Worth Reading
Definitely worth your time and fascinating. Though, as an engineer, I found some of the phrasing of certain things (possibly just an attempt to simplify for the layman) took a little of the impact out of these revelations. Particularly references pertaining to volume measures was quite distracting.

Good research, questionable conclusion
I had a hard time giving this book an average rating like this, because I think the research that the writers did was outstanding and amazing. I totally agree with them that there probably was a common link between many of the standards of measure that they talked about in the book, and was amazed at the methods that they used to come up with the standard of the Megalithic Yard and its associated measures. The problem for me was that I think it was an awfully big jump to try to ascribe this to a previous civilization. I have read a lot of books and research that show just how mentally competent our ancestors were at the discoveries and achievements they made. I get very incensed at the people who insist that "aliens" or whatever MUST have been involved in the creation of things like Stonehenge or the Pyramids or whatever because "there's no way that a bunch of savages could have done it." This book was doing really well until it started to assume a previous civilization HAD to be involved in the proliferation of the MY - I really don't see how this is any different a standpoint than the aliens supposition.

An interesting look at how the physical world influence society
A colleague I trust recommended that I read Civilization One as it was a different book with a different way of thinking. He was right this book is out of the norm as it provides a clear and compelling analysis of a naturally defined measurement terms called the 'megalithic yard' derived from astronomical observations that correlate to measurement of stone circles in Britain, Mesopotamian weights and measures, Egyptian pyramids, etc.The authors point out that this level of consistency is too much to be a coincidence and then go onto proving there theory. The result is an interesting way of looking at stone age history and conventional wisdom on the early days of civilization building.Overall the book is good. It is written by people who have a sting interest in advocating for their position. The prose is clear, open, honest and earnest. In this regard the author's voice make their argument believable. If you are interested in exploring new ideas and thinking about how our physical world deeply shapes society, then this may be a good book for you.

Very interesting and worth a read
This book is very interesting because it presents an array of mathamatical calculations that are based on what has been surveyed at archaeological sites. The maths can be verified throughout, although it must be accepted that many of the "findings" are the assumptions of the authors - what some reviewers have scorned and criticised as nonsensical convoluted thought. But let us be absolutely straight here, the authors are creative and imaginative and what they present is valid if perhaps overly imaginative at times. The Megalithic Yard and the Minoan Foot are demonstrated, as a matter of fact, to be superior for all convenient terrestrial and celestial calculations (Relative for Sun, Moon and Earth - but not the planets!) and this is to be admired. The authors are intelligent and supply the reader with a wealth of genuinely fascinating and sometimes bewildering information. The accuracy of their findings from the archaeological point of view are highly debateable, but from the theoretical point of view, what they present is valuable and more than a little interesting. To sum up, it really doesn't matter if the content of this book has any basis in fact or if it is the pure invention and wishful thinknig of the authors because the information is so useful and enlightening. A truly fantastic read which persuaded me to purchase "Who Made the Moon" by the same authors(I'm awaiting its arrival at the time of this review). From reading the reviews of that book I already know that I shall certainly not agree with the conclusions that the authors present but -just like with this gem of a book - I shall enjoy the "facts" along the way and draw my own conclusions as a result. That is what you can do as well with these thought provoking and thoroughly stimulating books.

The world is not as you thought it was....
"if you feel comfortable with the old idea that human development was a smooth evolutionary journey from ignorant caveman to urban sophisticate, be prepared to be shocked. Fazit: Empfehlenswert - intelligenter, nachdenklich machender Lesestoff!

Interesting maths and astronomy working together.
Although several years old now, the facts uncovered in this book are still little known by most people. The engineer Thom who spent many years measuring up lots of megalithic monuments then trying to work out why and how they were built as they were and the conclusions he came to are fascinating and eye opening. That so many earlier civilizations had also done the same or very similar years before was also surprising, however when you hear how they all went about it, its obvious and impossible to think of any alternative they might have used as later scientists and mathematicians have ended up with the same results from a different direction. How it all ties in together though is amazing and it is not surprising that the authors and a few others, are of the impression that perhaps it was all preconceived, as it all works so well. Great stuff.

Very interesting mysteries
I enjoyed this book and it has some quite startling claims and revelations concerning the origin of weights, measures and even the origin of the moon. These are perplexing mysteries but very interesting to think about. As a Druid I found the material on the Megalithic yard and the method of attuning this to the planet venus with a pendulum very interesting indeed. The book also seems to have a hint of a Masonic flavour and so may well be of interest to Masons too.I'd recommend it to those interested in ancient mysteries for sure.
